I've figured out why Steyer is OK and Bloomberg is not.

Steyer started early enough so he got on the debate stage to be vetted by voters just like all the others. Bloomberg wants to skip that step. This realization made me decide that the DNC did the right thing in changing the rools. Bloomberg should not rise in the polls based solely on ads. What do you all thing about Steyer vs Bloomberg?

9. Steyer has had a pretty liberal record for the last decade plus.

Bloomberg has been mostly centrist. I think the acceptance of Steyer stems from that. Plus Steyer seems to have a real political crush on Bernie, that likely makes the Berners more tolerant of him.

Steyer did not.

In fact, Tom Steyer worked for Walter Mondale in 1984 in an effort to defeat Ronald Reagan.

Does anyone really think that Bloomberg would have jumped in if Biden's internal polls didn't show a clear 1st round win at the convention? Yes, you can make the argument that Mike is getting around campaign donation limits in order to eviscerate Trump (yes!) but he could also have run as an independent or R if that's all he was up to.

I'm at best equivocal about him as a candidate, but his help with defeating Trump, I'll take.

I think I might like Steyer better as both a person and definitely on policy.

Bloomberg loses me on some of his policy history.

That said, Bloomberg is one helluva lot better than Trump.

If I knew for a FACT that only Bloomberg could beat Trump, I would be all in for him right now.

Of course there is no way to know that. And I hope the "only" part is not true. But I am willing to keep the door open because I think he could beat Trump.

At this point I think Steyer is a good guy but would be challenged to beat Trump in the electoral college. He would probably win the popular vote similar to Hillary in 2016. A lot of his ideas are too progressive or different for the average voter in swing states we absolutely must win.
