Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumSanders, in 2015, said his favorite Republican was climate change denier Jim Inhofe, "a decent guy"
https://www.cnn.com/2016/03/13/politics/bernie-sanders-james-inhofe-friends/index.html"The irony here is -- and it's not even funny -- is that if I told you the Republican I liked the most it'd probably ruin his political career," Sanders said after some prodding from the CNN's Jake Tapper and the audience at The Ohio State University. "There'll be a 30-second ad -- 'Sanders said he likes this person!'"
Perhaps luckily for Inhofe, who was re-elected with nearly 70% of the vote in 2014, Sanders didn't quite endorse his politics.
"Jim is a climate change denier. He is really, really conservative, but you know what, he is a decent guy and I like him, and he and I are friends," the self-described democratic socialist told Tapper.

Editing to add that I posted this because of all the unfair criticism of Biden for sometimes getting along with Republicans, AND for referring to Pence as "a decent guy" last year.

I think this was more when he was in the House and he was home in Tulsa more often.
He was mayor of Tulsa and he walked up on our lawn and greeted us. I told my husband I probably won't vote for him, but he sure is cute. He was a nice looking guy in his younger days.

(48,892 posts)posted this OP because I'm so tired of seeing Biden attacked here for not viewing all Republicans as enemies. And Bden was attacked, in multiple threads, for referring to Pence as "a decent guy."
Some Sanders supporters were joining in the attacks on Biden, and I wanted to show them that Sanders was friends with Inhofe and called him a "decent guy," though Inhofe is probably on the enemies list of any number of supporters of the Green New Deal.
FWIW, one of the nicest guys I've ever known was a Republican lieutenant governor. Who also got along well with the state Democratic Party chairman, whom I also knew -- also a very nice guy.
