It’s hard to get through without tears. It’s where I first saw Emmett Till in his coffin, saw rubble from the church in Birmingham, saw my first Green Book and a Coca-Cola machine made to fit in the wall between the white and “colored” waiting rooms of a train station. The colored side cost more.

I grew up in the South and know the casual racism of the Jim Crow era. But seeing the amazing people who fought it portrayed in detail and with honor left an incredible impression.

If we could find their strength and follow their example we could do anything.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

school last week. She has been full of questions about his life. What was his career? Did the bad guy go to jail? Did he like baseball? She also learned about civil rights, lots of questions about that too.

I always respond, "Segregated lunch counters." I was a youngster in NC in 1960.

It's disappointing, but most people responding don't know about that, or they just don't care. Some even go off by saying that was a long time ago, and similar BS. Get a bunch of anger emojis too.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden
