This is one reason I struggle to maintain patience with those too young to vote in 2000, who now tell me I am ignoring their concerns and that I don't know anything.
The "not a dime's worth of difference" crowd poisoned the well 20 years ago. Then they want to tell me today that same crowd isn't doing the same thing again, when it smells exactly the same.
I've lived this movie 3 times now and I'm tired of it.

(2,461 posts)come on man. Why would he be leading Democratic primary polls if he surrounds himself with people who don't like Democrats?
Please reconsider what you are saying.
There is no doubt there is a battle going on for the soul of the Democratic Party. And it doesn't have to be ugly. Wouldn't it be nice if everyone could agree that at least there are some core values that inexorably tie the two sides together?
edit: the battle, if you want to call it that (I prefer debate) should be about how to get there. That doesn't have to include hair styles, heart attacks vs. Aneurysms etc.

(29,223 posts)it is the tactics... anyone who "boos" the last Democratic candidate for the Presidency and who was the first woman candidate for that office from a major party... or who accepts and welcomes the endorsement from someone like Joe Rogan or who has people in the campaign that openly disparage Democrats or even lie outright about the other Democratic candidates...
it's not the philosophy of left versus far left for the soul of the party... if it was that I wouldn't like Warren either... but it's the tactics to try be the leaders of the party...

Outright lies? I think I can name a few, but that wouldn't help defeat trump.
And you and I agree: it is not left vs. far left. Where we part is (or maybe we don't? ) establishment vs. populism.
The left/right thing just isn't working anymore.

(29,223 posts)and alienating the moderates to be "populist" isn't the way forward either.
We already have a "populist" President.
How is that working out for the United States?
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden

(2,461 posts)Populist just means an expression of the populous. That's why Trump won and Hillary didn't, despite beating Trump in popular vote - because the country is vast and fly-over is sick of being fly-over and there is a leavening of votes btwn. high population and high acreage.
Bernie is populist, and he is not Trump.
Populist is not a party. You know that, so don't try the equivocation thing.
A populist that wasn't a con, a populist that actually has a long track record of supporting the population: well, there just wasn't that choice last time around, and now there is, and the world has changed, and you can keep losing if you don't want to see that.

(2,461 posts)Where I live, I really appreciate when my neighbours share their moose and deer with me. Not everyone lives in a city and there is a place for hunting. I also really like freshly killed fish.
You can't take that away from people.
My family is from just north of Vermont, and we all live on this stuff. People are poor. Lots of Metis. Way of life.
Edit: hey, and I just want to say that maybe they could be not 'poor' but they are happy with what the earth and sea gives and don't want to compete in the big world, which to my mind is a great blessing to have been raised in that tradition.

(2,461 posts)you should wait 5 -7 days. I don't understand this objection because I don't understand anyone who would want a gun for anything other than game hunting.
