Why is Hillary doubling down on attacking a Dem candidate?

Last edited Sun Feb 2, 2020, 06:00 AM - Edit history (1)

She was on tv again, defending her poo poo on you bernie stance. How is anyone finding this ok?

Edit: Jan. 31 podcast with Emily Tisch https://www.nytimes.com/2020/01/31/us/politics/hillary-clinton-bernie-sanders.html?emc=rss&partner=rss

not tv - my bad - but cnn re-aired it on tv, so maybe ok? anyways, this was after her 'nobody likes bernie' remark and she just comes back in again with no apology.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:

Like the NYT, I have questions about this voter revolution concept. I have asked sanders supporters to explain this concept to me and so far no one seems to know how this voter revolution will work in the real world https://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1287&pid=430371

64. Exactly how does sanders voter revolution work in the real world?

It is my understanding that even sanders has acknowledged that he cannot adopt his platform unless he holds rallies and this voter revolution occurs. Is this correct? How does this voter revolution work in the real world? Again as I understand this concept, so many new voters will rise up and force the GOP to be reasonable. Is this correct? How many new voters does it take to accomplish this goal and where are these voters? How will these new voters force the GOP to be reasonable when so many GOP officeholders are in gerrymandered districts? Will these new voters move to these districts in time to vote for sanders’ platform? If these new voters are real, then why are theses new voters not showing up in the polls? New voters in such large numbers so as to cause the GOP to be reasonable should show up in polling. Are these new voters waiting for something? If these new voters really exist in the real world, why has sanders not used these new voters to get some meaningful legislation passed?

I look forward to answers to these questions

sanders interview with the NYT may have gone better if he had explained how this revolution would work in the real world. I am still curious

President Trump’s advisers see Senator Bernie Sanders as their ideal Democratic opponent in November and have been doing what they can to elevate his profile and bolster his chances of winning the Iowa caucuses, according to Republicans familiar with the plans.

My next complaint on Hillary: She is abusing her media messaging power to take down a Democratic nominee.
She is a private citizen and as such can say what ever she wants. But she is tearing the party up doing so.
No one should be happy with this, unless you want to lose.

Edit: And I'm not saying this just as a HUGE Sanders fan. It won't help Joe, or anyone else

From the start, he should have only said stuff like... how she won the vote... great career... strong woman... admire her...

193. Hillary knows that trump would easily destory a weak candidate like sanders
Sun Feb 2, 2020, 05:28 PM
Feb 2020

In addition to the well written 101 page memorandum with oppo on sanders with a 1000 pages of backup from the Clinton campaign trump has his own oppo file on sanders that would destroy such a weak and divisive candidate like sanders. Trump had a two foot thick book of oppo research on Sanders http://www.newsweek.com/myths-cost-democrats-presidential-election-521044

They ignored the fact that Sanders had not yet faced a real campaign against him. Clinton was in the delicate position of dealing with a large portion of voters who treated Sanders more like the Messiah than just another candidate. She was playing the long game—attacking Sanders strongly enough to win, but gently enough to avoid alienating his supporters. Given her overwhelming support from communities of color—for example, about 70 percent of African-American voters cast their ballot for her—Clinton had a firewall that would be difficult for Sanders to breach....

So what would have happened when Sanders hit a real opponent, someone who did not care about alienating the young college voters in his base? I have seen the opposition book assembled by Republicans for Sanders, and it was brutal. The Republicans would have torn him apart. And while Sanders supporters might delude themselves into believing that they could have defended him against all of this, there is a name for politicians who play defense all the time: losers....

The Republicans had at least four other damning Sanders videos (I don’t know what they showed), and the opposition research folder was almost 2-feet thick. (The section calling him a communist with connections to Castro alone would have cost him Florida.) In other words, the belief that Sanders would have walked into the White House based on polls taken before anyone really attacked him is a delusion built on a scaffolding of political ignorance.

sanders was such a weak primary candidate that the Clinton campaign did not use its oppo but trump would have fun destroying such a weak candidate like sanders

No one seems sure who the Democrat is.
In words, Joe and Bernie seem to be exactly the same on policy - except for single payer. And student debt. But in each case, and more, like zero carbon emissions and immigration and and - they both agree on what the end game is. They are very much the same in this, as are all the Dem candidates.
But having a dream as a floating out there ideal (that would be Biden) and as something to tackle and take a bite out of (that's Sanders) are significantly different positions on the team.
superbowl metaphors to be filled in later, as I know nothing about football

It will then be the time to argue the merits of each approach to Healthcare in America when we are actually in a better position politically to do so. As far as the primaries go, I cannot vote for someone who keeps a wool sweater labeled Democrat in his closet, and is only donned when it is advantageous to him, only to be mothballed once it is no longer an advantage. That's just the way I feel about things. Joe Biden is our best hope to replace Donald Trump. It is the logical choice.

Sun Feb 2, 2020, 09:05 AM

a "Democrat of convenience;" he is still listed as an Independent for his Senate seat/campaigning.

If you look at his record, he changed from a party where he routinely lost elections to be an "Independent," and that is how he FINALLY won an election. He first campaigned as a "Democrat" in 2016 to piggyback on DNC resources to get the exposure he needed, all the while moaning, groaning about and bashing the DNC.

Then he shucked the "Democrat" label to be an "Independent" again.

He reinstated his "Democrat" status in 2019 - while still being counted as an "Independent" in the Senate - only to be able to run in Dem primaries in 2020. This occurred once again to piggyback on and use DNC resources, debate venues, etc. for his candidacy, once again all the while bashing the DNC and other Democrats.

Once Hillary became a Democrat, she stayed that way. Nearly all of her many accomplishments - which Bernie can never even hope to equal - occurred while she was a Democrat. She is only stating the truth about him. His colleagues find him very difficult to work with.

Democrats like me - and Hillary - certainly have a right to be very leery of what SBS says and does. And to criticize him.

He has not ever proven to me that he IS a Democrat. He assumes the label for convenience sake.
