I don't see Biden as being a very strong candidate against Trump.

There are several reasons for that, but the biggest one is that way he handles being approached by people. There are just so many instances now of him responding in a grouchy way to fairly standard questions and basically telling potential voters to "go vote for someone else". It is pretty apparent that his persuasion game is way off. He seems to be genuinely annoyed that people would challenge him on stuff and to take way too many things for granted. That isn't a good sign for the general election at all.

That, and there is just so much material to use against him. I can already see the ads which show the "I was ready to prostitute myself to the big donors" clip.

Neither align with me politically, but if I had to choose, based on "electability" alone, I'd feel much more confident with someone like Pete Buttigieg.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:

The guy who is in the WH right now is half ways illiterate, has a past that’s chock full of criminality and immorality, and has the personality of a pile of dung, and somehow he got elected. There was endless material to use against him during the election, as well, and none of it mattered one iota to his cultists.

I’m not saying you aren’t right, but I always think of this when people talk about electability.

Here in Iowa I have seen all the majors a couple of times. He has the lowest emotional intelligence of them all by far. And I don't think he was always this way . . . which makes me wonder if he does not have something going on geriatric health wise.

Real contrast to how I observed Pete and Cory and Bernie deal with hecklers. Cory did a hell of a job with a Grade A Maga asshole at the State Fair.

I'm just thankful that he doesn't wag his finger in people's faces. And, he looks good in a nice-fitting suit because he has good posture. He's someone that I'd be PROUD to see standing along side other world leaders on the world stage (figuratively and literally) and representing our nation.

And I'd add that Pete has been running a very smart campaign, with what seems to be an awesome ground game, and, having watched all 5 (!) of his talk show appearances today, as well as the remarkable way he's handled the media and public questions, as well as unexpected protestors at his various town halls, fundraisers, and TV interviews, he has shown the ability to handle any question and any questioner that comes his way and to project a consistently sharp and forward-looking but inclusive and, in occasional moments, even wise, message. I've never seen anyone so adept at thinking on his feet the way he does. In my opinion, that skill and fresh energy will be essential not only in the GE, but also to handle the expected avalanche of crises that will face the next president and generally to govern what's left of this battered nation.

Pete Buttigieg's someone I've respected for longer than most here knew he existed. You can do the searches, I've been talking about him at DU since before Trump was elected. In a perfect world he'd be a "dream" candidate of mine right now. Initially I loved how intellectual he is and his policy stances are strong.

He's not at this time because I only care about winning and he's not the man for that job. First of all, I learned since my first interest in him, he can't bring home our African American voters. We lose without them. That's fully on him. I can assure you he was only brought to my eyes because he had aspirations for the presidency. Yet, he's made foolish mistakes which are documented since 2002 and hasn't made them any better over the years in that department, I'm sorry to say. It's been an achilles heel of his primary campaign. It's a deal ended for me.

Also, wether you realize it or not, Biden is currently considered the most liked and personable candidate in our field. Granted, that's subject to change, but it's what it is at this moment, and I'm living in the moment as to my support. All I care about is getting an actually electable candidate nominated. But, you do you.

I still like Buttigieg, I just don't see him as out best pick this cycle. My second is currently Warren, then Klobuchar and then him. But, that's just my rankings. Which are always subject to change.
