Angry people do not think straight.

A demagogue who fuels rage as his path to power can get people to do some truly horrific things.

Liberalism requires reason.

Populism feeds irrationality. There is no reason in rage.

The two political instincts are not comparable.

I am, and have always been, a liberal Democrat.

Resist!

In 2016, Warren was not a candidate for President. But, in your terms, then I would change that to "Only Three Presidential Candidates..." since she is one this year. I don't believe she has mentioned rigging this year, though.

If you insist.

Thanks for weighing in, though...good try.

Google knows, though. You can quickly search for a candidate's name + rigged and find any story that exists. You do, of course, have to look at the date, I suppose.

to do with politics. That's odder yet, since I'm a prolific writer on the subject, but never write about politics for money. I make my living as a writer, but absolutely refuse to do any paid writing on that subject. But, nobody has ever contacted me to offer me any so I could refuse it.

So, please explain how this "rigging" works. I guess I don't understand it.

22. Interesting. Campaigns spend a lot of money on advertising,
Sun Feb 2, 2020, 03:09 PM
Feb 2020

but advertising has nothing to do with "rigging" an election. Look at all the money Bernie Sanders has collected during this run. While some of it came from big money donors, through an odd organization that "isn't a PAC" but sure acts like one, most of his contributions are small and come from individuals. Is that "rigging?"

Donating to candidates isn't "rigging." It's simply support for that campaign. Arguably, candidates who can collect tons of contributions tend to do better, because they have more money to advertise themselves. But, then there are people like Bloomberg who are using their own money to finance their campaigns. Is that "rigging?"

If you claim that there is "rigging," you'll have to explain how that works to me. I'm not seeing it, frankly.
