(10,638 posts)Kerry was for the Iraq resolution because it had a timeline for withdrawal.
After it came back from the House with the timeline removed, he voted against it.
Meanwhile, GW McIdiot was against the Iraq resolution because it had a timeline
for withdrawal, but didn't veto it, because in the final resolution, timeline was removed.
This showed me the power of the RW echo chamber, and it's still working!

(52,553 posts)that Allen heard part of a conversation and misread what Kerry was saying. I can't imagine Kerry seriously jumping into the race at this late date, but I also can't imagine Allen making the whole thing up.

(31,059 posts)There's zero reason for Kerry to step in, especially in front of Biden. Allen's take just isn't plausible.

(5,127 posts)He is only saying that the reporter misinterpreted what he heard: look at Kerrys actual reaction:
**
He told NBC News later on Sunday that, "This is a complete and total misinterpretation based on overhearing only one side of a phone conversation. A friend who watches too much cable called me wondering whether Id ever jump into the race late in the game if Democrats were choosing an unelectable nominee. I listed all the reasons I could not possibly do that and would not and will not under any circumstances do that."
**
I will tell you this. If Sanders takes Iowa, he is a valid contender. Even if he takes second, he is a valid contender.
And if the Democratic Party once again changes rules or stacks the deck intentionally to defeat Sanders, there will be hell to pay. The country wont take that.
Let fair elections and caucuses be run, and delegates be awarded fairly. No superdelegate alterations to burn Bernie, or else the country is beyond redemption.
We did it your way in 2016, held our noses and supported Hillary, Were not going to compromise to go with a loser again.

(60,831 posts)The reporter wanted the sensational story even though it made no sense. Kerry has ran before and built the organization needed. He also has worked pretty hard for Biden.
It is true that many things he says about Biden could be said of him. As a foreign policy person knowing everyone, Kerry is likely better. As a speaker and debater, he is better. He never voted for a bankruptcy bill and spoke out in the Senate complaining about the Thomas hearings. So, less baggage.
However, one thing he has spoken about is how no one could call Biden elitist and his Biden connects well to many people we lost and might gain back. I personally, do not think Kerry's background should have been a negative because he exemplifies almost all character traits that people supposedly want. However, in this race, he has opted to use his own good name to help get some who might otherwise not give Biden a close look, to give him a chance (in the primary season)
there are limits to that. Personally there is no one I admire or respect more, but I am still undecided. I did weigh his well made arguments, but an not convinced that a president with fewer ties, but great vision and ability to create a national security team could not be just as good.
