Washington (CNN)Former second lady Jill Biden said Monday that she no longer considers herself a friend of Sen. Lindsey Graham, the Republican chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee who has sought investigations into her husband and stepson.
President Donald Trump's attempts to pressure Ukraine to investigate Hunter Biden and Joe Biden, his potential 2020 general election rival, are at the center of the President's impeachment trial. Trump and his allies have repeatedly made unfounded and false claims to allege that the Bidens acted corruptly in Ukraine.
Jill Biden told CNN's John Berman on "New Day" Monday that Graham's repeated attacks on her family have strained their relationship.
"Lindsey Graham, the senator from South Carolina whom I think you count as a friend," Berman said before Jill Biden interjected.
"We did, yes," she said.
"Well, you know, Lindsey -- I don't know what happened to Lindsey. And we used to be great friends and friends with John McCain," she added. "I mean we traveled together with the (Senate) Foreign Relations Committee. We've had dinner. You know, and now he's changed."

Now, Lindsey calls for Joe's only surviving son to be thrown to the Senate GOP lions as a desperate attempt to distract from Trump's guilt.

(6,028 posts)There was a time when there was a certain amount of decorum in Congress. People could have different views on various topics and still have respect for each other.
There was a lot less of the mean spirited behavior that is the norm today.
People could "respectfully disagree" and still be friends.
That's all gone now. Partisan battle lines have been drawn and it's almost impossible to cross them.
If you want to be a "good Republican" in Congress, then you have to adhere to the idea that you get what you want and f**k everyone else. You're not allowed to be bi-partisan in politics, or even socially.
Mess up, and you could be gone in the next election.
Lindsey Graham decided he would rather be a Senator than have friends who didn't adhere to the far right viewpoint.
So, he walked away from people like John McCain and the Biden's.
Unfortunately, this is the way things are in Washington now. And we have all lost as a result of it.

(2,585 posts)He hangs onto an alpha-protector, someone who has more power than himself, and someone who is the unchallenged so-called pack leader. He did that with McCain (much like Joe Lieberman, who also seemed like a beta personality, as well), and now he submissively bows to tRump - but he also derives any power he feels he has from tRump, as all the others before him. Lindsey reminds me of a remora, flitting around and swimming beneath the fins of a shark, glad to have the tidbits that fall out of the big fish's mouth.

Lindsey Graham is a hypocritical coward and a likely traitor for his involvement with tRump and the Russians.
A traitor who has likely ignored every oath he has ever taken.
1. His oath as a lawyer.
2. His enlistment and re-enlistment oaths to the military.
3. His oath of office as a member of Congress. His oath after each term and re-election.
4. His oath which he took before the impeachment trial.
Most of those oaths included the phrase "support and defend the Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic."
The only oath he apparently hasn't ignored is:
An oath of complete and total allegiance to Donald J. Trump the impeached president of the United States.
History will put them both in the same Chapter. Political American Traitors

Worked at Nuclear plant in SC, went to Russia for a bride and her daughter. Told not to go and not to take laptop. Got fired, lost clearance and now works at Christian Radio in Charollte. Kicker, the Daughter had cancer. Graham fast tracked their entrance into America. Yet he rants about brown people entering and taking from our health system. My brother, pro Putin! Coincidence? Like Malcome Nance say's, "coincidences are very well planned". And no, I never speak to my brother now.
