Just wondering: Do you think the IA caucus results might be declared invalid and cancelled?

Like the DMR poll, not released. Maybe, the new system for what was it releasing 3 (or 2) vote tallies got corrupted and there will be no fair result to announce tonight? My thinking is that the party isn't releasing the results because they've identified a very serious flaw. In that case, will Iowa re-schedule it's caucus or we just move onto New Hampshire? It's not fair to do a re-do, in my eyes, because what about the people who could only caucus tonight and can't next Monday or whatever?

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

"Results delayed", "No ETA", "reasons unclear." Until we get a hard ETA of when the results are supposed to come in, I can only assume the worst.

Edit: I don't want that scenario to unfold as I am dying for some results. We, as political junkies, all live for nights like these, but it's obvious that something very grave has occurred.

Republicans use hand marked ballots that are counted. We need to pay Iowa to put on a Saturday primary for us, where people register a secret vote.

A joke.

Primaries are a better way to choose candidates.

Caucuses really aren't particularly democratic. They do tend to exclude the working poor, not intending to, but having something at a given time on a specific day for several hours is really bad for people who would like to participate but risk getting fired if they take time off work. Maybe caucuses were good way back when, but I'm thinking they are pretty outmoded now.

Just like the Electoral College.

Why are they not inputting the numbers and getting results? Calculating by hand?

I have to admit that my initial reaction to the poll being invalidated was that it would be a way to set up shenanigans in the caucus. So if the caucus results are vastly different there isn’t a reputable poll to dispute the results. It just shows the success Putin has had to make it so we no longer trust our process. (Bush v. Gore had the same or more impact on me).

But tonight clearly sends the message that Iowa will never again be first in the nation.

For Democrats any way.

As a supporter of Obama since before he even became a State Senator I have to say, the only way he could become the nominee was because he and his team had a clear understanding of how caucuses work and how to insure he won far more caucuses than his opponent.

Of course, that means the order changes each election cycle. But why not have those states we need to win go first. It makes no sense that Iowa and New Hampshire are so early when they aren't usually important. And why is SC so early? We are NEVER going to South Carolina. Obama didn't even come close. So why are they being used to weed out candidates? It should be Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, Penn. States we need to win/flip and have a chance of doing so.

They had these paper cards where on one side was your first choice and if your candidate was viable, thats the only side you filled out. If your first choice wasnt viable, then you would also fill out the second side as your second choice. Chair had to call in to double check the procedure. If we had problems in our small precinct, cant imagine what was going on in the larger ones.

I guess when Iowa has been doing this the same way since 1972 and then they decide to do it differently there were bound to be issues. At least I can say I participated in the last Iowa caucus!
