for each individual candidate,then email, phone, fax results to HQ. Pretty simple and reliable and use paper ballots for the paper trail.

Summary data sent from each precinct to HQ should be able to be processed easily with an adequately trained staff. One vote for each voter for one candidate, period.

That is what the Iowa caucus is trying to do. They allow re-allotment of the first choice votes who didn't make the threshold.

Similar to electronic voting where you can pick a second choice.

But this isn't electronic (their one touch with their electronic app apparently didn't go well, initiating the delay..), the vote tallies are on... wait for it...

PAPER, while everyone around them was helping to make the count. Much more dependable than anything electronic.

Paper trails are mandatory regardless of voting system. The failed app should be scuttled permanently. There are no excuses and the Iowa Caucuses should end and be incorporated into Super Tuesday. I believe all primaries throughout the USA should be done in one day; over and done with.

I think a paper ballot put in a box and counted by human hands, with verification, is second to none in security and hard copy backup. Electronic voting systems enable fraud.

In accounting classes, one idea of trust is an audit trail.

Folks not wanting an audit trail are suspect.

I'm not saying no, but you do realized that could take a considerable amount of time? Ballots with multiple races and multiple propositions and issues? In national elections some precincts and polling places will see very high numbers. Are we willing to forego having CBS call the race before midnight? (rhetorical question)
