(7,715 posts)it might help if we understood the exact problem. Right now, the main issue appears that there was the app issue, which could be dealt with by paper certifications. That's just a matter of time.
The other thing that apparently CNN was reporting earlier was that several precincts messed up how the non-viables could move after the first round. If that's true, perhaps the Caucus results do need to be invalidated if this was more than a few.
Wait and see. If robust results are available today, announce during the SOTU.

(45,432 posts)since it was a bit irritating to see news media announce that Trump had won the GOP caucus. Cue the SNL church lady: Well, isn't that special....

(23,372 posts)Is there something impinging on the integrity of the votes themselves? Is there good documentation and chain of custody? Were the agreed upon rules followed? I don't know about that.

(20,709 posts)Iowa is always about momentum, not delegates. When the results come out, in terms of national delegates, it's going to be a few here and there.
Maybe they should do it again, but that requires funding and planning. But even if they do, it doesn't undo the damage to the party of having this happen. We don't get an Obama moment like in 2008. The delegates from Iowa didn't make any difference then. But the speech he gave and the momentum he got made people believe he could win for the first time, and ultimately changed the course of history. That could have happened for one or two candidates here. But it didn't.

(5,555 posts)We have twofold issues
CNN was reporting that multiple sites were doing the realignment process improperly during the caucus itself (can't find a article on this however)
Data completeness and integrity concerns

(3,433 posts)how much confidence they have in them. If they have all of the documentation they should be able to get accurate results. It would be no different than a paper ballot election.

(12,165 posts)Nothing is going to erase the Iowa debacle and how utterly unorganized and amateur it appears to be.
Its a stain on the primary process now. You cant spend more than a year building up so much interest in Iowa and emotion about the outcome, and then expect an easy fix to move on without it dominating the news cycle.
