Seth Abramson with a very astute observation on the candidates' responses from last night

One observation I want to make is that the two women behaved in a presidential fashion after the chaos in Iowa. Both gave gracious speeches and flew to New Hampshire. Meanwhile, Biden went to his lawyers, Pete declared "victory," and Bernie released confusing partial caucus data.

PS/ I like Joe, I like Pete, and I like Bernie. I also think it's way past time for a woman to be in the White House. And I think how the candidates responded to the chaos yesterday is telling. It'd be difficult for anyone to argue that Warren and Klobuchar didn't handle it best.
If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

one bit. Reading Abramson's tweet caused me to chuckle as I was reminded of me and my wife. She's certainly the better half by a mile when it comes to interpersonal and things that go awry and are not in her control. She never tries ti take charge, she just does by example.

To valorize women as some kind of saintly angels not captured by the same venal tendencies as men is to deprive them of moral agency and is the kind of anti-woman narrative one expects to see in a Victorian dimestore novella.

The “sexist wishcasting” (that’s a new phrase for me!) I believe is directed at the notion that a woman, simply by virtue of being a woman, will come in and clean up the mess. Two words in response to that: Margaret Thatcher. Arguably Great Britons twin to Ronald Reagan.

That being said, I love Elizabeth Warren and can’t argue with the OP’s contention that the woman candidates handled the situation best.

And women have had none. POC have had only 1 chance. It’s well past time. We don’t know if women will clean up the mess because they have never had a chance.

The dataset is tiny (relative to the massive datasets he’s dealt with), the analysis is simple and the results are clear. If Seth can’t be bothered to look at the data, then that is his problem. We collect data to ascertain reality - independent of expectation and hopes and biased social filters.

Let’s attack a Dem who speaks out when they are confident of the results. Pete is a meticulous data collector, the data set is tiny, the analysis simple, and the results clear.

The Buttigieg Campaign posted all of their numbers in an Excel spreadsheet on the Buttigieg website. If Seth Abramson can’t be bothered to check the numbers, then that is a poor reflection on him. Pete isn’t stating an opinion - he has the data.

Pete would not claim he was victorious unless he was - if it turned out that he was wrong he would be the laughingstock of the nation.

One of Pete’s major at Oxford was economics for crissakes. He’s run his data through a bunch of different models and had to be certain he had been victorious before he claimed it so.

Also - if Senators Warren or Klobuchar had the numbers and were certain they had won I would’ve wanted them to shout it from the rooftops. Women need to assertively take the field and take up just as much space as males who feel entitled.

Dems have to make power plays to beat Repubs. Pete’s power play here is based on observing reality. In November - wouldn’t you like an operation like Pete’s to be way the fuck ahead of the game in terms of protecting our votes? He just did that.

P.S. LOVE SENATOR WARREN AND HAVE FOR DECADES. WOULD BE THRILLED TO WORK AND VOTE FOR HER IN NOVEMBER! I’m ticked at Abramson.
