Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumIMHO, the big winner out of Iowa is Mike Bloomberg
He has just DOUBLED his ad buys in the states where he is already doing heavy TV. I wonder how much ad time is even available to the rest of the field before Super Tuesday.
Bloomberg could be at close to 20% in the polls by Super Tuesday, and if he does well in CA, everything changes.

(8,038 posts)IMHO (and it's ONLY my opinion-I don't want to get into any kind of squabble) I don't think he's in it to win. I think he's using running as an excuse/platform to show the ads that focus on the harm dt has done.

But mostly, unlike Stein, he will not run as a third-party candidate if he fails to get the D nomination.

(45,056 posts)7. No. He's too rich and personally successful to pull a Jill Stein.
Plus, he has been supporting Ds with cash. Hes a big reason for2018s blue wave.
But mostly, unlike Stein, he will not run as a third-party candidate if he fails to get the D nomination.
That's my point.
My response was
13. He supports R's with that cash of his too.
And I'll make another point.Bernie puts a D next to his name when he's running for POTUS. With the blessing of the Democratic party.
Got a problem? Take it up with them.

(5,811 posts)I love that part because it just tickles me to no end. He has great leaderships skills and won election three times in one of the most diverse states in the Union. He has been a MAJOR contributor to My Brother's Keeper. He doesn't have an ego problem. He's honest even telling us what we don't want to hear. The rich, the middle and the poor like him. We could all sleep again.
He's my back-up plan if Biden who i still fully support fizzles.
This election is not about how I feel. It's about saving our Republic which has been almost completely destroyed.
We need to keep the House and win back the senate so we can impeach every thug #TraitorTrump put on the federal bench. We need more gov ships so even Trumpsters can get access to affordable healthcare. I believe he will add the public option and we can only get that if we have a DEMOCRATIC Congress and Executive Branch and a sane judiciary.
I'm invested in saving our democracy, the rule of law, our Constitution, our Republic. as much as I love Vice President Biden, I will go with the candidate best positioned to overwhelmingly BEAT back #TraitorTrump. This is not a reality show where you vote someone off the island. This is about getting the government we say we want. I'm not attached to a person, I'm attached to an idea called American democracy. that's what I'm fighting for and will vote for.

(13,776 posts)I was kind of pissed when he got into the race, because in no way is he my favorite candidate.
But when I think of him running against Trump, I feel... safer than when I imagine even my top choice going up against him. She's smarter, quicker, and better than him (plus she's not insane), and her policies are better for this country than his (obviously), but people seem to want not a battle of intellects but a battle of personalities. And Bloomberg's personality is what we need to beat Trump. I hate to say it, but I'm starting to think that Bloomberg may be the thin edge of the wedge that we need to get into the door and from there to bring in excellent people (starting with, dare I dream, Warren, Klobuchar, Harris, or Abrams as VP)--he's not our favorite, but he's necessary.

I expect Bloomberg's polling numbers to go up, and quickly. The rest of the candidates need to calm down and let Iowa sort its crap out and release the entire results when they have them. I guarantee that Bloomberg will be just sitting and watching the others bicker and whine about this. Bloomberg will benefit greatly from it all.
