Conservatives didn't amass this media empire just to turn around and sell it. The propaganda value is worth more than whatever the sale price would be.

Murdoch started Fox News to be a propaganda operation for conservatives. It's doing exactly what he wants it to do.

If it was all about the money, he would have sold out long ago.

It was Roger Ailes that turned it in to a RW propaganda network. That is well documented. Murdoch just wants to make money.

Not in this case. Fox News is one of the most important amplifiers of GOP and Trump propaganda. It’s a valuable tool for them.

That was true of many conservative heartland radio stations in the 1980s. Conservative organizations supported them against shortfalls so they could deliver right wing messaging across America’s flyover country. I’m not making wild eyed claims about Fox’s current financials but I am saying if they didn’t turn a profit, conservative groups would keep them on the air as a propaganda tool.

508 million shares at $14.85 per share yields a book value of $7.6B. That's a starting point. Global media company with prime assets like WSJ. I forget that a lot was spun off in 2013. So yeah maybe less than half that on a good day. But you have to motivate the owners to sell. Not going to go easy.
