GOP Leaders In South Carolina Plan to Boost Bernie

“A group of prominent South Carolina Republicans is preparing to launch a wide-scale effort this week to encourage GOP voters to vote for Sen. Bernie Sanders in the February 29 Democratic primary,” the Charleston Post and Courier reports.

“The Republican plan to meddle in the Democratic race, emerging just weeks before the ‘First in the South’ primary, has two goals: Boost the candidate who the Republicans believe presents the weakest general election threat to President Trump and pressure Democrats to support closing state primaries in the future.”

Press in SC has been reporting for some time that the Repubs are hoping Sanders is the nominee for the obvious reason that they believe - whether they are right or wrong - that he will be the easiest Dem for Trump to beat.
I personally know several Trump assholes that have told me they plan to vote for Bernie in the Dem primary.

Don’t forget that the SC GOP cancelled their primary several months ago so there couldn’t be an embarrassingly low win for Trump.

They will pound the fact that he was on the Vermont ballot as a Communist in 1980 24/7.

That doesn't include the other stuff they have in the two foot thick opposition research book on Sanders that has never seen the light of day.

Sanders has never been thoroughly vetted.

They should not be allowed, IMO. These are for parties to select their standard bearer, they are not General Elections .... that's what the general election is for. It opens the door for shenanigans like this (and Dems have done this to R's in the past). You want to vote as party X? Sign the card and give up your rights in party Y.

Sanders and any of the candidates will crush the idiot during debates, that is if the idiot dares to debate of course. I don't think they understand that Sanders doesn't play "political correctness" too much, and he will sweep the floor with the idiot.
