Report: Trump is Melting Down over Bloomberg Ads about his Weight

Vanity Fair

As you may have heard, former New York City mayor Mike Bloomberg recently got into the Democratic primary with one goal: to troll the shit out of Donald Trump. Oh sure, he’d like to be the nominee, but more than that, Bloomberg has been spending hundreds of millions of his own money to drive the president insane. And thus far, it appears to be working! Last month, the New York Times reported that despite Bloomberg’s relatively low polling, he’s managed to get under Trump’s skin much more than, say, Elizabeth Warren or Bernie Sanders, and Trump is apparently “pricked” by Bloomberg’s massive ad buys and anti-DJT messaging, including spots targeting his treatment of military leaders. And if the events of the last 24 hours are any indication, it’s been $200 million (and counting!) well spent.

Fueled by an alleged, though totally believable, anger over Bloomberg ads targeting his “girth,” Trump spent Sunday attacking “Mini Mike” on Twitter, declaring the three-time mayor “fake news,” a loser, out to get Sanders, and, most damningly, short:

Not content to let the president spin his wheels, Bloomberg’s campaign shot back via his national press secretary, Julie Wood, who said in a statement: “The president is lying. He is a pathological liar who lies about everything: his fake hair, his obesity, and his spray-on tan.” Later that day, Bloomberg himself responded: “I will stand on my accomplishments of what I’ve done to bring this country together and get things done. I’ve been doing it for a long time. I stand twice as tall as he does on the stage, on the stage that matters.”

And somehow, that was only round one! Later, longtime Trump administration mouthpiece Kellyanne Conway told Axios, of Bloomberg: “His outsized wealth and outsized ego are matched by his overwrought jealousy and spitefulness towards the president. Jealousy is a dangerous motivator for people, leading them to confuse with a sugar high that money can buy with substance that voters demand to hear.” To which Bloomberg adviser Howard Wolfson shot back: “History will call to account every single person within this administration who has enabled and abetted this lawless and dangerous president.” To which Conway responded: “Howard and I have already made history together. His work for Hillary [Clinton] and my work against Hillary helped keep her out of the White House.” To which Wolfson—yes, this continued!—responded: “And in less than a year we will make history again when Kellyanne and Mr. Trump will have to stand and watch Mike take the oath of office.”

While Trump has never needed a reason to attack anyone, having, in the past, trained his fire on everyone from Puerto Rico to Spike Lee to the U.S. census to the cast of The View, it’s not hard to see why Bloomberg, in particular, is keeping him up at night. According to a senior administration official who spoke to Axios, Trump—who, deep down inside, knows he‘s a relative pauper compared to Bloomberg—“thinks that money goes a long way” and that those who believe the ex-mayor has no hope of winning are “underestimating him.” Sayeth another Trump adviser: “He [Trump] takes money seriously. He’s a businessman.” Also, he obviously hates the fat jokes.

Although Joe Biden gets a lot of credit for his "foreign leaders laughing at Trump" ad. Other than ridiculing Bloomberg's height, Trump's got no way of retaliating against Mike Bloomberg. And Bloomberg's pose of "complete indifference" to Trump's attacks only makes Trump angrier.

Bring it!

it was about Trump over and over saying he would never have time for golfing and/or criticizing Obama for golfing too much... then, it was juxtaposed with pictures of Trump on the golf course as president, with some of the pictures not being very flattering. But, they never mention his weight.. he's just an obese man golfing.
