Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumOK. I'm sticking with Warren because, between her and Buttigieg, I think...
... her energy and enthusiasm will have more appeal in the GE. I love Buttigieg's stye. Just love it. But I'm not a good predictor of what other people will love. I think Klobuchar has similar energy and enthusiasm, and would have been perfectly happy if she had caught on. Maybe she will. But for now, I'm grateful that Warren made the top three and will give her some more money.
Where are the rest of you with the top 3, if it comes down to that?

(63,899 posts)We are an anomaly in the rest of the world. Most every other country has had a woman president. What is wrong with us?
This is a goddamned embarrassment for our country!

However I would be delighted to vote for Liz if Amy is out of the running.
I would also happily vote for Pete.
I will vote blue no matter who.

I just contributed to her again, although my donations go directly to her campaign and not through DU.
I'm staying the Warren course!

(1,584 posts)With Kamala Harris as running mate.
Mayor Pete and Bernie look to be next as most able to win the general election.
Yes, I think Bernie is one of the top in the general. He has an energized base and would steal a ton of Trump voters. All of our candidates are going to be called socialist and communist.
Pete will energize a lot of voters as well and appeal to the middle. But the biggest reason he would win is from the enthusiasm, not his positions on issues.
Warren is best because she has a great story, highly qualified, builds coalitions, can punch back at Trump and will turn out the base. This is a base election and she will do it. Add Harris or Holder and that base turnout will be through the roof. Like landslide, 20 more house seats, and a Senate majority. Julian Castro would also be a good choice, but Im not sure he gives as much of a boost.

(2,015 posts)I was thinking Cory Booker. Cory has spot-on messaging, huge energy and unifying vision, and doesn't have Kamala's problematic prosecutorial background.
I don't think Castro would be a good option. He seems not quite ready for prime time. He made several bad missteps in his campaign that he didn't need to. Would they have been bad if he'd succeeded in his strategy? He wouldn't have gotten the flack for them, but his political judgment is still a bit off kilter.

(2,015 posts)Buttigieg doesn't even come into my equation. Ok, I'll definitely vote on him if he gets the nom, but I have 0% interest in a small-town mayor with race relations problems and no experience on the statewide level, much less national. He's certainly more qualified than Yang, but sheesh - that's not a high bar.

(1,205 posts)but she hasn't yet. So in the background of that, I am hoping something shakes out and Warren performs better in New Hampshire than expected.

(22,336 posts)but those are my top three. Pete is generally third with Bernie and Liz trading places for first. I mainly want someone who will beat Trump though. I'll happily vote for whoever runs against him.
