1. Raw Votes

So Sanders got more raw votes, but Mayor Pete is edging him out in State Delegates. It seems like an antiquated system, like the national Electoral College. Why is the person with the most votes coming in second to someone with fewer votes? I do not see the logic.

The raw vote counts the voters who show up for the grueling caucus process.

It's the only fair mechanism for the assignment of state delegates in caucus states.

OK, fair enough, good information. The process seems overly complex to me, but I guess that democracy can be messy.

Primaries are neater and cleaner, but far more expensive and some states hold primaries too late to send delegates to national conventions.

But I'm still beginning to believe we should switch to an all primary system. This caucus stuff feels anathema to the values of the Democratic Party.

Only the SDEs mean a thing. Pete having more SDEs that Sanders means Pete has a good chance at sniping one or two national delegates from Sanders during the state convention, and that happens nearly every election.

Vary more from “Raw %” to “State Delegate %” than the other candidates?

Looks like Warren wasn’t viable so they went to Biden? Warren dropped and Biden went up.

I saw on MSNBC that some of the Precincts yet to be counted towards the end were College Towns and Cities where Bernie was expected to do better. This is why Bernie seems to be closing the gap with Mayor Pete as they get to the end of the counting process. It is a very close race.
