Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumTime for some introspective thinking
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Its time for some introspective thinking. Every one of the top tier candidates coming out of Iowa has liabilities that will be exploited by the slime machine that is the impeached shitbag. The only candidate who can muzzle the obese colon bag is Bloomberg and he is doing it now.
Time to realign priorities because we get nothing without capturing the presidency and the Senate.

(3,649 posts)We have had enough of those over the last four years. Never mind he was a registered republican not too long ago and endorsed people like Pat Toomey, Susan Collins, and George W. Bush(!!!). No thank you.

(3,649 posts)Bernie has credibility in the midwest where he won Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota, and Indiana in 2016. People know he's honest. He's also galvanizing the Latino community, which gives us a real shot in Texas and Arizona. It may turn out that African Americans start backing him in larger numbers as well now that Biden's campaign is faltering. If that happens, Georgia is in play. There's a lot to like about a Bernie candidacy in the GE.

(1,584 posts)My goal is to get Democrats elected so we can implement lasting change.
Bloombergs goal is just to beat Trump. We need more than that.
We need state legislature majorities for upcoming redistricting.
We need to solidify our House majority.
We need to take the Senate.
Then, we need to defeat Trump. If we get the above three, Trump and the Republicans would be effectively neutered. And if we get those, we are going to win the White House anyway.

Sanders supporters overestimate his appeal. And, no, the presumption of honesty is without basis until vetting happens. Or, do we let Republicans see do that for us?

(16,685 posts)How are the gung-ho supporters of certain candidates going to be able to swallow their pride, anger, and disappointment and find things to latch onto that they can get excited about that will help them activate others?
Because there are going to be a LOT of angry and disappointed people when this process is over. It's going to be someone that someone else here loathes.

And Im being generous in categorizing this guy, who thinks social security and Medicare need to be cut, as a benevolent billionaire. Im being generous in categorizing a guy who supported George Bush and some of the most toxic repigs as benevolent.

(374 posts)Because that's what led to President Donald Trump.
People aren't looking for the same old thing, that's why Trump won. He tapped into the dissatisfaction Americans had with both parties establishment and the interests they serve.
The whole political landscape changed with GWB really, Iraq and TARP. Obama was a great moderate president but he never satisfied the insurgent impulse that's been building in American politics for decades.
Bloomberg would lose.
You want to beat trump it's going to take courage, the courage to reach for something better and the courage to do some genuine introspection about the failures that made Trump possible.

That is why I support Andrew Yang. He is looking to deal with the reasons that got Trump elected in the first place not a re-set to a previous era.

(5,290 posts)If, when we get thru Super Tuesday primaries and if Joe doesn't get his mojo going, I'll have no problem getting behind Bloomberg. My reason is simple. Neither Bernie or Liz will have a chance to beat trump in the general.
For me, I'm supporting whoever I think is most likely to beat trump, because that literally is all that matters in this election.
