MAJORITY OF DEMOCRATIC VOTERS 'MORE LIKELY' TO VOTE FOR BERNIE SANDERS AFTER IOWA CAUCUSES: NEW POLL

MAJORITY OF DEMOCRATIC VOTERS 'MORE LIKELY' TO VOTE FOR BERNIE SANDERS AFTER IOWA CAUCUSES: NEW POLL

https://www.newsweek.com/majority-democratic-voters-more-likely-vote-bernie-sanders-after-iowa-caucuses-new-poll-1486148

The majority of Democratic voters nationwide are "more likely" to vote for Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders in the aftermath of the Iowa caucuses, while significantly less said the same about former Indiana mayor Pete Buttigieg, according to new polling data.

A full 52 percent of respondents to the Morning Consult survey, which was released Thursday, said they were leaning more toward backing Sanders for the Democratic nomination following Iowa's Monday caucuses. Of those, 29 percent said they were "much more likely," while 23 percent said they were "somewhat more likely."

Despite performing poorly in Iowa, former Vice President Joe Biden came in second in the polling, with 48 percent saying they were more likely to vote for him. Buttigieg, who prematurely declared he was "victorious" in Iowa, saw significantly less enthusiasm, with just 38 percent saying they were more likely to back him. Of those respondents, only 14 percent said they were "much more likely" to vote for the former South Bend, Indiana, mayor.

Sweeping economic reform—that may result in raising taxes on the middle class and losing good and affordable healthcare coverage for the unknown, particularly with an economy many perceive as doing well enough—could spell doom.

If the standard-bearer for vast reform and revolution is Bernie, we are in real trouble once the novelty wears off and he has to beat Trump in battleground states.

Respect for the movement Bernie, but yours as the face of the Dem party in the GE, no.

Not only will our so-called liberal media harp day in and out on your affinity for communists and socialists, the 60 trillion dollar price tag for your goodies bag, but it will expose your impoverished record of accomplishment, depict you as a beat away from a heart-attack, magnify your abrasive personality, reduce your AA support even further using your own words, and frankly, make of you a caricature, unpalatable to the majority moderates who make up this nation.

The upside? None. Bernie does not have a universally likable personality, communication gifts, great
accomplishments, terrific endorsements, ability to build coalitions among diverse groups and across the political spectrum. Bernie fits the broad American political landscape as an effective outside agitator for economic reform. End of. He will not ever be seen as presidential because, well, he’s not.

sure can be better than actual proof. But testimony might also have become a bottomless pit. If Biden is the nominee they can use Burisma. If they can’t, they will use “a woman has come forward,” “ As VP, the Obama administration did X and Biden Y,” any number of moves to destroy his candidacy, no holds barred and lies can sell better than the truth.

Dem voters must weigh risks, a candidate’s vulnerability to Republican attack, and how their positives might offset, whether a particular line of attack would tend to gain more traction for one candidate versus another, but with the knowledge that no candidate will prove immune, not to
attack or cheating.

Republicans will fight this one to the death. Losing spells death to their party, thus to endless gravy at the trough.

So Warren talking kitchen table and how she will put more food on it is on to something. But I am going to make this country into a social democracy and you lose your health coverage may play very badly, worse than potential conflict of interest.

Hillary did not lose because Benghazi or email server. A confluence of factors were at work, chief among them Russia’s cyber attack on our election. We play into their hands viewing 2016 as a case study on how not to win an election.

...I guess the 'Red Scare' tactics aren't working as well as some might have liked...why?

...because most people realize that Bernie espouses policies and programs that most of the world has adopted and implemented and considers normal and acceptable...

...because Bernie espouses policies and programs that people want and need...

...it's only trump and his radical-right that have a problem with Bernie and his policies and programs...

...anything benefiting the 99% instead of the 1% must be opposed by the 1%...

...Bernie can do it!...

That’s about as ridiculous as in Person voter fraud conspiracies repigs have been peddling.

It’s hard enough to get actual voters out of their homes in February.

58. Wow, how bad is Biden doing with that cohort if he only received half the votes as Sanders in Iowa?

72. Bernie Sanders Support with Black Voters Cratered by More Than Half in a Week
Fri Feb 7, 2020, 01:57 PM
Feb 2020

Independent Vermont Senator and Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders saw his support among black voters crater by more than half in a national poll amid a roiling controversy over his decision to brag about an endorsement by comic Joe Rogan, and stand by it after the comic’s history of bigoted remarks emerged.

Sanders was enjoying a bit of a surge with black voters in the weekly Economist/YouGov poll, going from 12 percent three weeks ago to 17 percent the following week in a poll that was taken two days after Sanders tweeted a video of Rogan praising the candidate’s consistency and saying he would “probably” vote for Sanders.

But in the most recent poll, taken Sunday through Tuesday of this week, Sanders’ support among black voters has plunged to eight percent.

There’s no way of telling exactly what caused the swing, but the Rogan controversy began to erupt just before last week’s poll was taken, as past comments by Rogan — including a clip in which he compared a black neighborhood to the fictional Planet of the Apes — began circulating, and the Sanders campaign responded by standing by their embrace of the endorsement in spite of those comments.....

Elsewhere in the same poll, former Vice President Joe Biden maintained a massive lead among black voters, but his support did slip slightly, from 46 to 43 percent, while former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg — who has spent over a quarter of a billion dollars on ads so far — surged from three to 11 percent, and Mayor Pete ticked up three points with black voters — from one percent to four. Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren was the only other candidate in double digits with black voters, maintaining 14 percent in both polls.
