Has Bernie speculated who he'd choose as a potential VP candidate if he wins?

We know Biden is focused on a woman and maybe even a woman of color - but what about Bernie?

Does he go the conventional route and pick someone to balance the ticket or does he go full-on far-left and choose someone like Nina Turner?

Trump picked the conservative Pence, not just because it helped reassure nervous Evangelicals but also because Pence brought some, believe it or not, experience and seriousness to the ticket.

Bernie doesn't necessarily need the experience but I feel if he picks an ideologue like Nina, it becomes increasingly more difficult to win in November.

I know the VP shouldn't matter but I actually think it's mattering more and more.

Biden would be wise to pick someone like Harris or Abrams.

I think Bernie would be wise to pick someone who's not known as too left.

Mayor Pete would probably have to go the Obama route and pick someone with Washington experience - maybe even Amy.

What do you guys think?

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

.

The Democratic Primary winner cannot make the same mistake of the past.

In 1980, Ronald Reagan & GHWB hated each other. I mean they fucking hated each other to the point where the Republican party was more fractured than the Democratic groups of 2016. Yet, Reagan chose GHWB as the VP pick which coalesced the party and resulted in 12-years of Republican presidential leadership. The 2020 Democratic Presidential nominee MUST pick a leading contender as their VP pick to rejoin the fissures of the primary run. This way, they would be able to overcome any GOP and Russian fuckery. If a centrist doesn't pick a leftist, or a leftist doesn't pick a centrist, the hopes of surmounting Republican cheating, vote suppression, and Russian/foreign fuckery will be extremely difficult.

Note: This is not rehashing 2016. This is applied Poli-Sci strategy from University Honors courses.

If Bernie chooses a woman of color, Stacey Abrams would be an excellent choice. She is Liberal minded, but eloquent in her messaging. She oozes compassion, intelligence, knowledge, without rubbing people the wrong way.

Just my 2 cents here.

As unpopular as she is, it might sink his campaign.

Personally, I don't seem him picking someone who isn't ideologically similar. That's a problem if it's Gabbard or someone like Nina Turner. The last thing his campaign needs is more controversial, confrontational figures in high positions.

Or the reverse, though I'm not sure how likely either of them would be at this point. Depends on how much of a bump Pete gets (or doesn't) from Iowa.

Not sure how it would work elsewhere, but it's kind of compelling for the states we absolutely need in the midwest.

people don’t choose their ticket based on geography - if they did, the dictator from NYC wouldn’t be so popular in the red states.

Dems and indies in Iowa and Florida will vote for a Dem ticket from the Northeast, Cali, etc.

...I would love a Pete/Amy ticket.... but, mainly, the post is about Bernie. Most candidates would pick someone to "balance" themselves and widen their appeal. I hope Bernie considers this, but I suspect he won't... by that I mean pick a "moderate" - I do think he will want to pick a female. Of the people running, I think Tulsi is possible. I hear Warren mentioned, but I don't think we're going to get to a point where he would pick her and she would accept. We don't know, usually, those who decline. They send out a "don't ask me" message. I can't see Elizabeth as his VP. AOC is campaigning and I think she would be possible, but she may be too young (technically)... maybe Rashida Tlaib, then, they would be an interesting team.
