Six women of color leave Warren campaign in Nevada: report

Six women of color left Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s (D-Mass.) Nevada team after complaints of racial insensitivity within the campaign, Politico reported Thursday.

The departures have happened over the course of several months starting in November, according to the news outlet. Nevada is known for its large Latino population in contrast to other early primary states like Iowa and New Hampshire. The Nevada primary takes place February 22, a week before Super Tuesday on March 3.

The staffers who left the 70-person operation in the battleground state reportedly complained that they felt tokenized by the campaign because of their race. One staffer told Politico they felt like they were “there to literally bring color into the space, but not the knowledge and voice that comes with it.”

Much of the disputes came as staffers urged the campaign to produce more Spanish-language literature, hold events in Spanish and have more Spanish-speaking staffers join the campaign. The Warren campaign confirmed the departures to The Hill and does not dispute the allegations.

We need her in Senate. My guess is Biden, Bernie and Pete are left with Bloomberg a long shot but viable.

That wanted a smart woman.

If she isn’t there I will probably vote for Bernie or Pete, even though he’s more moderate I think he is future looking and will help lead the environment we need.

My hubby smokes pot so not voting for anyone who still won’t legalize it.

That passes the senate. So she can reach across the isle and get things done.

If we get 50 votes and eliminate the filibuster, she will still sign any progressive legislation that is supported by Jones and Manchin. So we still need her to work with the moderates in the senate.

My point being, her moderate views shouldn’t dissuade you.

a little overzealous, though they might mean well.

I actually appreciated being tokenized when I went to her event... We were whisked away from the end of an extremely long line and personally escorted into the building... like VIPs. 😎

That being said, it's unfortunate that Warren's team didn't heed the valuable advice they were being given, straight from the horse's mouth. SMH.
