Sanders has made inroads with POC, continues to be the favorite among young voters, and the potential is there for him to end up with a clear majority of pledged delegates.

In 2016, we knew after Super Tuesday that Sanders didn't stand a chance. In 2020, it may be the case that after Super Tuesday nobody but Sanders has a chance. That's not a prediction. I'm just saying that it would be foolish to deny that possibility.

...and based on more recent events, it is very conceivable that he would now poll best. So if you're arguing that he does not have a path to the nomination, the argument that he is polling at less than half of 2016 is weak... if no one polls better. Put differently, SOMEONE has to be the nominee, and I'm not sure anyone has a significantly greater likelihood than he than he does.

But none of the other candidates are-polling as well as him RIGHT NOW. Clearly more people are rallying around him than Biden or Buttigieg or anyone else. RIGHT NOW.

With 435 delegates, the most of any state, California skews liberal. Sanders has campaigned hard here and has a strong shot of winning this state.

He is not my first choice but anyone who denies he has a path to the nomination this time is not paying attention.

Biden didn't even bother to show up at the CA Dem convention, when he should have been out trying to win votes here.

Warren has been here and may have a shot. I don't think Klobucher or Buttigieg have, or most of the lesser polling ones.

Warren is a true liberal but hasn't polled so well in CA lately nor spent enough time here.

It's hard for me to imagine the vast number of progressives getting behind those other candidates listed.

California's own Senator, Kamala Harris has dropped out as have all of the Latino, black and Asian candidates, though, and California has a huge number of minorities, so it will be interesting to see who they shift to now.

Sadly for Californians, March apparently isn't early enough to vote and have a shot at keeping minorities in the race.

as the result of having been repeatedly kicked in the nuts by Bernie and his campaign staff, he's at least playing at being a Democrat again for the time being, and they (and we) desperately want to beat Trump. And they'll have to try to manufacture some coattails to attach to him, since he will otherwise have none, to get down-ticket Democrats elected.

I hope to God it doesn't come to that because if it does we're screwed.

He has no choice. Bloomberg is on trump's enemies list big time. If 45 gets a second term Barr, will go after him, his friends and family, everyone who matters to him. He knew that when he entered the race. Mike is pulling no punches (quite the opposite). I have no doubt he would back Bernie 100% (if he has to).

Because that is who Democrats are. We are better than that. We are certainly way better than what he has been saying about Democrats for the last five decades. In the meantime, I think there are a whole lot of Democrats that will do all we can with our vote to make sure the DNC will not have to get behind Sanders. Just my opinion.

Fri Feb 7, 2020, 09:23 AM
Feb 2020

It is not up to them to decide who democrats are voting for, they should not be supporting or refusing to support any candidates. If they feel Bernie isn't a real democrat they should have kept him off the primary ballots and explained why to the party membership. These behind the scenes games are bullshit and are just becoming normal operating procedure for democratic primaries, would be nice if the Democratic leadership would show some ethics in this case.

Sure, they will endorse him and issue the right statements of support, but I am afraid it will be like what I understand 1972 was like, where the establishment basically sat on its hands and wrote the presidential election off as a lost cause. Bernie has ruffled too many feathers among Democrats whose support he will need to win. That's a big reason I am not supporting him this time, even though I did in 2016.
