Bernie's campaign manager just now on MSNBC

I am paraphrasing: "The billionaire class has adopted Buttigieg as their own."

... WTF?... I say WTF?... Since when?

When Biden was a threat to Bernie, his campaign went after Biden. When Warren was a threat, they went after Warren. And now this.

I am beginning to think Bernie's campaign has little to do with ideology and much to do with pursuit of pure political power. The "billionaire" boogie man remains the same, and the "enemies of the people" are interchangeable.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

Pointing to the facts... sorry I know this is new ground for many but Mayor Buttigieg has had some very well funded friends. The fact that Sanders has made his bones attacking wealth and its corruption on our body politics this is a good line of attack for his base. Trump did the same thing and it worked super well. Not comparable in the level of hate but the "Billionaire class dot dot dot " is Sanders playing the HITS and people still love the beat. Stop trying to change the station sit back and enjoy. 107. What...or Who...is the Donor Class?
Fri Feb 7, 2020, 06:28 PM
Feb 2020

This 'Donor Class' term is used as a pejorative term toward we who give to our candidates of choice. My wife and I live on modest retirement incomes. We give occasionally, as we can, to those candidates we agree with. Stop this 'donor class' shit.

In my 81 years here, I've rubbed elbows with the rich and the poor. Both groups have the scammers and both have the honest. Both have the grifters and both have the givers. The late great Willie Sutton was once asked why he robbed banks. His reply? "That's where the money is". If I were seeking a political office I wouldn't hesitate to ask a millionaire or billionaire for a sizable donation. However, if he/she asked for something that was against my grain, I'd say never mind. Keep your money. Honest candidates would say the same. We can't make those who seek public office honest, they are obligated to police themselves.

Fri Feb 7, 2020, 03:25 PM
Feb 2020

That would require some facts to support that contention. I habitually avoid putting much credence in short criticisms or points spewed out on TV and then repeated aimlessly. That's one way to lose a democracy in the first place.

It's like saying, "the Decepticons have adopted Buttigieg as their own because they covet the Allspark!" or something ridiculous like that.

Their is a class that is highly influential and that poses an overall threat to our democracy, that's for sure, but to superglue that to a candidate requires a lot of detail as to why and how. I would hope that Bernie would consider avoiding sensationalism and focus more on facts and details.

Why, I don't know, but this is just a continuation of what went on four years ago, when they broke the convention, and then went to work on the party.

This is a candidate whose surrogates actively went out to primary Democrats in safe seats (and is still at it), and who did everything to deride the Blue Wave of 2018, basically refusing to concede it even existed.

I'm not even supporting Buttigieg at this juncture, but the allegations of cheating and now this are over the top.

Fri Feb 7, 2020, 05:48 PM
Feb 2020

Democratic Party allows it. He does nothing but trash and bash the party, but everyone is supposed to remain silent and not criticize his ass.

Bernie Sanders LIED to his supporters in 2016 by making them wrongly believe that he was robbed of the nomination. The primary/caucus rules were set in stone BEFORE the primary season. Sanders agreed to those rules and had no problem...as long as was winning. When he started losing to HRC, he started crying about being cheated. He knew damn well that his followers, mainly being young or not as involved in the political process, may not have understood how the party rules worked. For example: They cried about closed primaries. We have had closed primaries for decades. Only when Sanders started losing in big, diverse states and/or closed primaries (like Maryland, for example) did he start lying about being cheated.

This man is also very wrong on race issues and that's why he will not do any better with black voters this time around--not as a whole. Sure, he may see some gains among younger black voters, primarily male. But he is not going to do that much better, and that is because he continues to place class issues over the importance of race.

There are many other reasons why I despise this man. He's arrogant and petty, unscrupulous and rigid. He's also a hypocrite. A major hypocrite. Any Democrat who isn't a "pure liberal" is trashed; however, it's o.k. for him to tout Democratic candidates who are anti-choice, pro-gun, and/or have misogynistic views.

The man is an ass. Can't stand him.

But, no worries. Thankfully he won't get too far in the primaries once we get to bigger, more diverse states. Black folk are not supporting Bernie Sanders. He will do better this year, but he's not getting the nomination because you need black voters to achieve that. He won't have that.

Another Trump similarity.

and this:

"Yet as Mr. Sanders moves to position himself as a standard-bearer for a party he has criticized from the left for decades, the power of his internet army has also alarmed Democrats who are familiar with its underside, experienced in ways large and small.

Some progressive activists who declined to back Mr. Sanders began traveling with private security after incurring online harassment. Several well-known feminist writers said they had received death threats. A state party chairwoman changed her phone number. A Portland lawyer saw her business rating tumble on an online review site after tussling with Sanders supporters on Twitter."

Other notable targets included Ady Barkan, a prominent liberal activist with A.L.S.—whom some Sanders-cheering accounts accused of lacking decision-making faculties due to his illness as he prepared to endorse Senator Elizabeth Warren—and Fred Guttenberg, the father of a shooting victim from the 2018 Parkland massacre, who had criticized Mr. Sanders’s statements about gun violence.…

When Mr. Sanders’s supporters swarm someone online, they often find multiple access points to that person’s life, compiling what can amount to investigative dossiers. They will attack all public social media accounts, posting personal insults that might flow in by the hundreds. Some of the missives are direct threats of violence…"

liar and hypocrite. The rules become unfair when he's losing. He agreed with and signed on to the Democratic Party primary platform...until he started losing. It happened in 2016. Get ready for it to continue in 2020 when he starts losing in the ****SOUTHERN**** primaries..and he will!

We black voters will not support Bernie Sanders who is even more despicable now than he was in 2016. And we did not forget about him implying that we're stupid for not supporting him. We have not forgotten any of that.

past tense: adopted; past participle: adopted

"there are many people eager to adopt a baby"
2.
choose to take up, follow, or use.
"this approach has been adopted by many big banks"

Seems like using #2 it fits. Billionaires have chosen to take up or follow Pete. Like previously linked in the Forbes article from December Pete does have a large number of billionaires contributing to him, and let's be real do most billionaires give because they believe it will get them either access or influence?
