Democratic Primaries

By Froma Harrop / syndicated columnist
The Iowa caucuses have long been nearly useless as a measure of Americans preferences for the next president. This year it has been more useless than usual.
The next star of the Democratic contest will be New Hampshire, whose people are also overwhelmingly white and whose Democrats are more liberal than average. At least there, ordinary busy people will be given an entire day to cast a primary ballot in private.
Mike Bloomberg skipped Iowa, and hell be absent from New Hampshire, South Carolina and Nevada. Hes putting his chips on Super Tuesday, March 3, when 14 states vote and 40 percent of the Democratic delegates are chosen. And he has an unlimited supply of chips.
This is not to say that the strange brew of circumstances in Iowa didnt leave some tea leaves at the bottom of the cup. They did and obviously made Bloomberg smile.

Not sure that skipping caucuses and primaries is a good idea. We'll see.

VP Biden right now is the brunt of the trashing, but alas, it will move on to someone else very soon.

(3,145 posts)Bloomberg stays above the schoolyard cuss 'n' grapple that the others can't seem to resist and goes straight after the Beast.
Watching the clusterfuck that was Iowa just strengthens my support for Mayor Mike. It was a terrible distraction which the right is already capitalizing on to paint the Dems as being in disarray. So while Biden, Warren, Buttigieg and Sanders take turns slapping each other, Bloomberg is meeting people and putting out ad after ad demonstrating what he's accomplished, what he intends to do.
And doing it all without resorting to attacks on his primary opponents.
