It's one thing to say we shouldn't have caucuses and that we shouldn't start with 2 states that lack diversity. I agree on both points.

It's another thing to refute the outsized influence those 2 states have. People on DU who keep doing that are either brand new to politics or deep in denial. Some like to point to '92, because that was the (only) year when the eventual nominee lost both IA and NH. What they fail to point out is that IA was essentially nullified that year by there being an Iowan in the race, and that Bill Clinton was propelled forward precisely because of how well he did in NH and the resulting "comeback kid" narrative.

Outside the DU bubble, evidence points to the Biden campaign being very concerned right now.

Southern New Hampshire is very close to Boston. We get a lot of Massachusetts people come to rallies. I went to two Obama rallies in 2012, one in Nashua and the other in Concord. We saw a lot of Massachusetts license plates. Someone on TV last night said, that southern New Hampshire is like a suburb of Boston.

Nashua rally, October 2012.

REMEMBER THEM? Good job that dump did taking out his chief competition in the swing states.
Joe will run away with them...that is reason enough to rally behind him..

BUT NO...that's NOT GOOD ENOUGH for some people. BEATING DUMPS ASS in the swing states isn't good enough for some people. Unreal.

They form a substantial and vital part of our voter base. But to be a realistic candidate for the nomination you need to win over white and Latino voters too.
