I like these detailed explanations because they offer suggestions for improvement. I think they offer a strong analyses and good suggestions.

(4,959 posts)I'm sorta surprised how high Buttigieg scores, given concerns about his record as mayor, and criticisms of his focus on crime and poverty when he does talk about race.
ETA Thanks for posting this link! Interesting stuff.

(13,390 posts)He does seem to be willing to rethink things and has made a pretty strong commitment to reparations. I think that goes a long way.

(13,390 posts)I don't think I would have been as generous as they were, and I am very impressed by how much thought went into their analysis.

(54 posts)It's where they docked him the most points. It's also not very fair, there are things that are questionable and that he can be criticized for, but it's rarely contrasted with all the good things he has done. Same with his South Bend support. His critics at home have been given far more room to drive the narrative than his supporters. But that's how it goes. This scorecard is very detailed, good to see that they put a lot of work into it. It's clear which three candidates are head and shoulders above the others.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden

And i agree that this organization has done an excellent job at analyzing these candidates on racial equity issues. To me, it is a foundational issue tied to every aspect of our democratic process, policies, and economy, so it really helps clarify where they stand in general.
We can't just nominally make laws 'equal'. We must make them deliberately anti-racist in order to have any hope of equity/equality. This scorecard is the first I've seen that really digs so deep.
