The Iowa Democratic Party announced it was reviewing results from 95 precincts from the Feb. 3 caucuses, accounting for roughly 5 percent of the total precincts.
Campaigns had until noon Central Time on Saturday to flag alleged inconsistencies to the state party. Pete Buttigieg and Bernie Sanders, who are battling it out for the lead in the state, and Elizabeth Warren, who is a distant third, each pointed out potentially flawed results, according to the state party.

The IDP has initiated the process of review of the requested precincts, and any corrections will be released before Monday at 12pm CST in a single update reported prior to the allocation of national delegates, an unsigned statement from the state party read. The top priority of the IDP continues to be ensuring the accuracy of reported data as the process moves towards completion. Troy Price, the Iowa Democratic Party chair, is also slated to hold a press conference on Monday.

Monday at noon Central Time is also the deadline for campaigns to request a recanvass or recount of the caucus results. But Sanders told CNN on Friday that his campaign was certainly not going to ask for a recanvass of the whole state. And a Buttigieg aide told POLITICO on Saturday that the campaign was not planning on seeking a recanvass, either.

(112,120 posts)even if the results change significantly. It's essentially a tie for the top two. Buttigieg did better than expected while Bernie underperformed expectations.

(58,349 posts)against 20+ candidates; (including the former Vice-President) and at least two of which, Iowa being in their backyard, Bernie had more people show up to vote for him in one vote than any other candidate was able to accomplish in two.
Regardless of the how the final 95 play out, I will take that as a win anyday.

(199 posts)On the first alignment of the popular vote, so not sure how he underperformed unless you were expecting him to blow the polling numbers out of the water. Rcp avg predicted Sanders to win by 3.5 and guess what, he won by 3.5 on the nose.

(1,026 posts)Bernie has been campaigning without stopping since 2015. He's expected to so well. You know, when I mention to Bernie supporters that Hillary won the popular vote against Trump by a lot.. guess what they say? SHE STILL LOST.
