So much outrage over Biden's ad when Klobuchar's attacks on Buttigieg for his lack of experience

were basically shrugged off, including when she said in November that the women on the debate stage wouldn't be there if they had as little experience as Buttigieg:

https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/469805-klobuchar-a-woman-with-same-experience-as-buttigieg-would-not-be-on

Klobuchar's been critical of Buttigieg's lack of experience fairly often since then, too.

The response to that on DU has basically been crickets.

I suspect much of the outrage at Biden is because of the effectiveness of the ad, rather than the point it's making.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

She's not in the lead and is not expected to be in the lead. Biden is. So that makes his actions news and people pay more attention to what he says.

Thinks of it as a backhand compliment.

although if I were to pick one, it would be Klobuchar because she's an effective senator and campaigner.

Biden's still the front runner with the added scrutiny due to that, along with the campaign's propensity for self-inflicted wounds like under-investment in Iowa that has put the campaign's trajectory at risk.

The reaction to the ad is because of its timing, as Biden is likely to finish third or fourth in two consecutive primaries, and because it trivializes what local electeds do. That's why the mayors of Parkland, FL and Dayton, OH came out against it. Would you tell them that they're just reactive because the ad was effective?

Personally, while I don't support Biden in the primaries, I don't want his campaign to tank because he is viable for the GE and a potential nominee. I'd rather the campaign make better decisions. Win on the issues rather than go for a contrast ad with obvious problems that only Biden partisans can't see

I doubt it. To me, the ad reads more like a SNL joke than an ad. It is needlessly harsh, while not making its point very well. Are we to really believe Pete's only accomplishments in office are lighted bridges and new sidewalks? Come on. It's so absurd that it reads as petty and undignified. Experience is a legitmate issue with Pete. The ad makers would be wise to make a compelling ad instead of comparing Biden to some sort of caricature of Pete's record. It is pretty transparent. Klobuchar's criticism comes across as earnest political criticism, this comes across differently.

I could be wrong and it could prove to be the greatest political ad ever. Time will tell, but I highly doubt it.

She opened it up by using it as a gender comparison, while saying he was qualified. That of course meant that women had to be more qualified then the least qualified male candidate. But all implication. She dropped it just in advance of a debate allowing him a chance to respond, but enough in advance to allow the news cycle to run with it. She only made it specific to him after he took umbrage. Of course she used the comparison of their shared local official experience as a further goad to get him to do so.

Since he chose to counterpunch it into an asset, it is now widely seen as fair game (at least coming from her Directly).

And her point on gender was spot on; women have a higher threshold to clear before they can be considered for the same jobs men take access to for granted. And when they get the extra credential, they’re often called calculating and overly ambitious.

I’m glad she went there. It had educational value, for anyone who’s willing to learn something.

Not only by his Democratic and Republican constituents but by Biden HIMSELF.

In fact, Biden's remarks about Obama's lack of experience were used by McCain's campaign against Obama back in 2008.

Speaking of things that have gotten crickets, those points seem to be ignored by Biden supporters. An inconvenient truth, perhaps.

I remember the sneering tone Republicans took with Obama's community organizer experience during the Republican convention. It was mean spirited and downright vile. For the Biden campaign to take on a similar tone in an ad that was supposed to highlight Biden's vast experience was equally disappointing. And it shows a lack of history on his end. He didn't seem to mind Obama's so called inexperience when he took a VP spot. Why is it such a big deal now?

I've taken issue with Kloubachar's digs, and I suspect there's a beef there that goes outside of the political realm. But Kloubachar isn't running on working with someone who was deemed too inexperienced to serve in the White House. Biden is. There's your difference.

It’s like a job qualification requirement. Education can be substituted for experience. That’s where I put Mayor Pete. He’s educated and articulate. That balances other perceived shortcomings.
