Joe Biden Is Running Out Of Gas

Joe Biden Is Running Out Of Gas

The former VP has lost the plot, voters say. And they’re wondering if he will ever get it back.

Forty-five minutes after Joe Biden’s first campaign event was supposed to start on Saturday, his crowd had grown restless. The former vice president wasn’t at the Rex Theatre in downtown Manchester and those crammed inside were wondering just how much longer they’d have to suck in the heated air before they get to see him speak.

In the rafters, a chant broke out. “We Want Joe!” the voices said, overpowering the soundtrack of classic rock and commercial motown that had been playing on blast to keep the crowd from completely dozing off.

But no one picked it up. Instead, after two renditions, the men simply stopped. And those who’d bothered to consider joining in the chorus did what they’d been doing since it became clear that the event would not start on time: they dumped their faces back into their cellphones.

“This is a microcosm of the failure of this campaign,” said Adam Ross, a Long Islander who helped start the chant. “The energy is slowly dissipating from this room.”

Good guy and he was a great VP under Obama.

He probably shouldn't have ran this year, he really had nothing to prove.

But instead we had the same old Obama's candidate v Sanders, and all the associated bitterness flows with that.

Without Sanders & Biden, the choice could have been -

Amy, Liz, Kamala & Pete - a broad ideological spectrum - and not one straight white male amongst them.

The ground running on Day 1. He knows how things were before Trump, not just the surface stuff either, so he knows what Trump has destroyed and dicked with. He would be the best at rebuilding the relationships with our allies. Also, didn’t like the possibility of Gabbard as a VP pick. I would love to have a Biden/Harris ticket.

Sad. He is such a nice guy and I had hope that he would see the light and take on some of Sanders’ and Warren’s ideas and get more current. The lunch bucket people he wanted to help have been struck so low that they actually voted for Trump in desperation. He does have a comforting fatherly persona that inspires.

Three at which Bill Clinton appears (once for himself, once for a Governor candidate, once for Hillary Clinton) - he was more than an hour late for each, one more than two hours late. Also two or three events for eventual governor Dan Malloy - in each case he was very late.

It's a characteristic of the hectic nature of political campaigns. If being late is "a microcosm of the failure of this campaign", virtually every campaign in recent history has been a failure.

And I doubt they did it to destroy Biden's chances. Highly doubtful.

The Hunter Biden stuff sucks beyond belief, but this is what Republicans do and have been doing for a long time now. There's no sewer they won't crawl into if it means boosting one of their own. This should not be news to any democrat at this point.

Biden should just laugh it off and bring attention back to the real beneficiaries of nepotism currently in the White House. That's what he should have done when Savannah Guthrie asked him about it last week. If you blow up every time that question is being asked now, how is he going to fare when Trump brings it up?
