Was Michael Moore Making A Homophobic Gesture?

As an aside it never made sense to me equating being gay with being effeminate. I have met some super masculine gay guys and some not so masculine straight guys. It's about who you are attracted to and who you love, not countenance.

It may not be, but the perception is already out there and now lets wait to see if MM clarifies his remark/action. I kinda doubt that he will, and if not, well...there you have it.

I don't like MM at all, and I think he's full of himself, and needs to be taken down a notch. Maybe he's watching himself on the cameras too much, eh?

TITLE

Moore may tackle gay rights
Controversial filmmaker Michael Moore has revealed that he might take on homophobia and the anti-gay movement in his next documentary.

Snip--"There is nowhere in the four Gospels where Jesus uses the word ‘homosexual.’ The right wing has appropriated this guy … and they have used him to attack gays and lesbians, when he never said a single word against people who are homosexual. Anyone who professes to be a Christian and does that is certainly not following the teachings of Jesus Christ.”

Moore, who told the magazine he is a spiritual person, said he supports same-sex marriage."

Snip--Moore said he is optimistic that gays and lesbians in the U.S. will have more equality soon “because everyone has someone who is gay or lesbian in their family or their extended family.”

The director of Fahrenheit 911 and Bowling for Columbine said he is proud to speak out in favour of gay rights.

“If you believe in equality, if you believe in standing up for the rights of all, especially for people most affected by bigotry and discrimination, then you have no choice but to be present and accounted for when it comes to standing up for gays and lesbians in our society.”

A couple of weeks back the twitterverse was going on& on about Biden being anti LGBTQ because of DOMA& DATA in the 90s. And wow, 3 days of us old dykes& gay men putting our lived history out there, that has disappeared.

Moore is a jerk, yeah; this one I'm not going with it.

YMMV

Hearing the accusation, I thought I would see something obvious. It isn't. Yes it could have been a calculated attempt at a subtle dog whistle, but subtle serves no purpose if it isn't clear enough to communicate. This reminds me more of a still frame freeze that makes some person look bad. It could easily have been a caused by the movement he made to position his hand. I say innocent on this until proven guilty.

Does he have a history of homophobic behavior?

I heard of him long before I watched anything political except maybe some supreme court judge nominations that I watched. I think he is fantastic for bringing light to political causes.

Roger and Me was groundbreaking.

Name another independent filmmaker, who has done as much good in bringing political messages to the movie world audience.

And no, he is not making a dog whistle. You have to really be projecting to see that in my opinion. He is a progressive, they support gay rights wholeheartedly.

Yikes. Michael Moore could well be a cheapskate and an Ass___hole in scrimping, but he has brought politics into the movie theaters. He is a force, and does much good.

Leonard Maltin is such a cheesy reviewer, I never listened to any of his shows, turned them off ASAP. Maybe he is good friends with the people that got stiffed, but Maltin surely is not out there covering politics and making political movies.

The current president is a reality TV star. He's as much an entertainer as a political figure, if not more so.

Ronald Reagan was a better actor as president than he ever was in Hollywood.

I would argue that Moore is both (Fahrenheit 9/11, etc.), though I'd agree that "entertainer" is the more dominant of the two at present.
