The garden where I might normally plant fucks about unimportant things is no longer being fertilized, so there will be no more. Any fucks I might give in the future will be about Trump and not about which candidate said which mean thing about which other candidate.

I was a senior in high school entering that contest, and I read that essay as one of the examples the foundation provided. It was one of the things that inspired me to support Bernie in 2016. But I had no idea until this morning that Pete Buttigieg is the one who wrote it. That is a really cool coincidence, IMO. And it makes me like Mayor Pete a little better, although I am still concerned about his record on race relations in South Bend.
