Biden was suddenly finding a rhythm.

This is how the other post - about Biden "running out of gas" ended, but we will not find the Sanderistas posting it:

(snip)

His gait was slow and his shoulders slumped, his blazer draped almost lazily against his body. He looked over to his left, just past the rope that was blocking the crowd from him. Two young kids were there. He joked with one about how if he sits through the speech without acting up, ice cream may await. The next kid was introduced to him as Beau and suddenly, the room went quiet.

“I have a Beau too,” he said, a reference to the son he lost to brain cancer but whom he still speaks about as if he’s there.

The crowd relaxed, their frustration with waiting melting away, reminded that the man before them is layered with tragedy and optimism. They truly care about him, in their bones, even if they have come to conclude that he’s not the right person they want to take on Trump.

And, for a little while, Biden gave them no reason to second-guess that conclusion. When he recalled how he outworked his opponent as a 29-year-old vying for a Senate seat—literally going door-to-door to win over votes—it merely served as a contrast to how sedentary his effort is now.

But then, a light was turned on, as if he reminded himself that he’s in the fight of his political life. He became infused with energy. He went after Trump for fundamentally changing the nature of America. He went after Sanders for being wrong on gun policy. He went after former mayor Pete Buttigeig for having the audacity to run for president from the perch of a mayoralty. There was vim and vigor in him now. “Gloves. Are. Off,” is how one Biden aide put it.

Biden was suddenly finding a rhythm. A crescendo of attack lines was followed by a well-placed pause, signalling that there was gravity in the words he’s about to utter.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

candidates’ vigor, but frankly their energetic, cerebral-centered and ideological lectures leave me
cold.

I believe most of all we need to go back to our fundamental, idealistic values to get us to
a level place from which we can resume the work on our collective soul, that work we started under Obama. Then we will move forward towards greater inclusion. Always, as Joe says, towards more inclusiveness.

Joe’s launch, his El Paso speech, his town halls and foreign relations address, various appearances and candid interviews have painted the broad picture, given us a blueprint for our own brand of democracy conceived as an experiment, out of bloody resistance, which now, we have a duty to spread the benefits of to all.

Who else speaks to us of these things, calls upon our soul, engages us in a battle for it? An imperfect man whose mistakes we well know, but whose heart we have actually looked into because he has let us. Occasional gaffes might pop up, but from Joe Biden this message I hear loud and clear. The rest talk policy, tout systemic and structural change, give figures, facts, and charts, but in all the energetic noise, I can not find my heart or America’s.

When I vote for Joe, the most qualified and experienced candidate, with the broadest appeal across our nation, I will feel the peace that comes from joining my heart to my head. I will not be settling, sacrificing my ideals, choosing the lesser of two evils. I will be, for the second time in my
life, excited and assured that my vote is not only right for me, but right for the large, diverse, and ever improving country I live in, yes for its soul, as Joe says.

I have no problem admitting that my first time, my inspired vote, was for Obama. And no problem feeling it is perfectly appropriate I should vote again, both in nostalgia and in hope, looking backwards and forwards, for Joe Biden. In fact, I can’t imagine feeling any better this time, any more sure for myself and the world, but should it pass, then yes, I must vote blue.

Until then, Joe does his part, much larger and more difficult than mine. I thank him and go ahead with mine, absolutely convinced that together, and with all of you supporters, we are doing our best, not only for America, but also for the world.

Instilling faith like this, it’s wrong to call it status quo. Maybe an old idea, but bold, big and bold. Now we get to find out if that idea, which Joe calls America, is too passé or just in time.
