Bernie Sanders' Supporters Booed Hillary Clinton's Name And Cynthia Nixon Wasn't Having It

KUDOS to Ms. Nixon! Bernie supporters REALLY need to take note. These HRC jeers are hurting your campaign.

The “Sex and the City” star shut the jeers down.

Cynthia Nixon took a stand during Sen. Bernie Sanders’ (I-Vt.) rally in Durham, New Hampshire, on Monday night after the audience booed the mention of 2016 Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton’s name.

“Sex and the City” star Nixon elicited boos from Sanders’ supporters, on the eve of Tuesday’s primary in the Granite State, after acknowledging supporting Clinton in 2016.

“Oh no. Oh no. We are not going to do that here,” Nixon responded to the boos, in stark contrast to how President Donald Trump often encourages his supporters to join him in disparaging his former rival.

“I supported her because I wanted a woman president and I thought she was incredibly qualified,” explained the actor, who made an unsuccessful run for governor of New York in 2018.

“And I thought she was unbeatable,” Nixon added. “But it’s four years later.”

And yes that type of reaction in the crowd to Hillary's name does not help Sanders. But I am also forced to say this; There is no more experienced political figure inside the Democratic Party than Hillary Clinton. She damn well knew (or should have) what she was doing when, years after the 2016 election, she called out Sanders personally, including over the top cutting claims that "no one likes him". Hillary is a pro, and she knows how important it is for Democrats to unify to the extent possible heading into the 2020 election. She waved a red flag in front of the most bull headed Sanders supporters and, yeah, they predictably took the bait. None of this is helpful.

aka, the need to avoid self-destructive, damaging behavior when you absolutely need the support of your former non-supporters.

Or in more simplistic terms, "don't hand the damned race to trump because you are still fighting the 2016 primary). Hillary isn't running for anything. Bernie is.

I cease to engage when the argument fails to keep on subject but simply devolves into a childish version of "whataboutism": "but SHE did it, But He did it! " Well, she and whoever else are not running and no longer need our support. But Bernie does. And most of us don't want our candidates and their supporters to use TRUMP tactics

And the general mood seems to be "just suck it up and forget it." Why? Stop doing divisive things when you aren't in the primary, then. And don't expect people to like you when you do.

She's not running. She doesn't need to be in the middle of this.

Tue Feb 11, 2020, 01:22 PM
Feb 2020

And it wasn't like it was Sanders that was booing. And the person that was there shut that shit down. Neither Sanders nor Warren are partaking in this. And I don't know what Warren supporters would do if Clinton said divisive things about Warren. I bet they wouldn't like it. Just like Biden supporters wouldn't like it. This is on Clinton as much as it is on the random people in the audience. Certainly isn't on Sanders or Nixon.

What I'm saying is that a person who isn't running that shits on someone that is probably shouldn't expect that everyone is going to like what they say.

28. This is the type of conduct that I saw from vetted sanders delegates at the National Convention
Tue Feb 11, 2020, 08:42 PM
Feb 2020

Normally going to a national convention is a once in a life time experience. I have worked really hard inside the party on campaigns and voter protection issues for a very long time to earn this trip. Too bad that sanders and his vetted delegates ruined that experience and did their best to help trump. A candidate has absolute approval rights over their pledged delegates because these delegates can change their votes and these delegates represent the candidate and campaign. I helped vet Clinton delegates and I know that I was vetted. The Clinton campaign told us that we represent her and that our actions would reflect on her and her campaign.

In contrast, sanders sent one very weak text the Sunday night before the convention and then did little or nothing to control his delegates. It was nasty I was there when the sanders delegates booed Congressman John Lewis. I was warned about this stunt 30 minutes before it happened by the Clinton campaign whip. According to my whip, sanders was asked to stop this event and declined. That incident will be used against sanders by Russia to suppress the African American vote just as was done in 2016

Russia will just run material showing sanders delegates booing John Lewis, Elijah Cummings and others to suppress the vote of African American voters and I feel that this tactic would be very effective

I was at the Texas delegation breakfast when a group of sanders delegates marched in and demanded that we condemn Clinton and change our votes to sanders.

sanders spoke to the Texas delegation the next morning and his speech was again solely about himself. There was a mini-riot due to his delegates the prior morning and the only thing that sanders talked about was himself. sanders did nothing to deal with the fact that his delegates were out of control and did nothing to try to help Hillary Clinton win the general election.

Finally a group of sanders delegates yelled at my daughter and called her the c-Word because she would not try to get me to change my vote. Again sanders was asked to tell his delegates to behave during the convention and sanders refused

The conduct describe in the OP does not surprise me

primary today, I would vote for:
