Damn it all!

If Bloomberg is the nominee I will vote for him in the GE.

For Chrissakes people. Eye on the ball. Defeat trump whether or not your choice in the primary loses. Vote for the Democratic nominee and shut the hell up with purity bullshit and criticizing democrats. Keep your threats of if so and so wins I will stay home cause I know my candidate is the one who should have won and could have beat the racist asshole. What a selfish self defeating outlook that is.

I remain undecided because I really don’t give a shit who wins in the primary. Cause guess what?

Anyone on our side is better than the fucking Trumpass.

Keep it real people.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

As mayor of NYC, he has actually held power and authority OVER Trump and knows him inside-out.

His positions are certainly progressive: $15 minimum wage, increase taxes on the wealthy, urban renewal, green energy, healthcare for all, criminal justice reform...and more.

Not the typical demon "billionaire" that some of our candidates are casting aspersions toward.

A self-made son of a bookkeeper at a small dairy in Medford, MA. BA in electrical engineering for chrissakes, and MBA from Harvard.

If the Democratic party needs a fully self-funding, run-outside-the-system $54 Billion dollar-aire to defeat Trump, then we deserve what we get.

You think Trump is not answerable to the people and has cloaked himself in the protections of the Presidency? Try electing a guy that switches parties at a whim as it benefits himself and is answerable to absolutely no one and no thing. Scares the hell out of me. Trump is at least incompetent. Bloomberg is very, very competent.

I ask myself - what does he want for his investment?

We have a good slate of good people working within the system and busting their buns to be elected. They are campaigning and fundraising. They are working hard and have expressed a range of great ideas. Any one of them would make an excellent President.

Why don't we elect someone that is working within the system that has proven themselves to be working for the people and with a history of being answerable to them?

Trump wins a second term and the SCOTUS is 7-2 Conservative for the next 50 years.
RvW is dead.
O-care is dead.
Medicaid and Medicare are gutted.
SS is privatized and all but gone in 20 years.

Now, if you believe that a purity test of how Democratic someone is remains important with all that is at stake, I don't know what to say to you to make you recognize this is NOT a normal primary or election and ideology is about 10th on the list of required qualifications in November...literally ONE thing is #1 through 9 - Can the nominee beat Trump and save the republic from swooning into totalitarianism completely.

Nothing else matters more right now. Nothing.

I don't care if the candidate is less than perfect, has skeletons in their closet or is out of the closet and has donors in their pockets. I care that the 46th president of the USA is selected and that the 45th is escorted out of the White House, into courthouses and eventually into prison for the rest of his miserable life. Period.

What if "the best" for you is not available? Then what?

What if your favorite candidate is not the nominee? Then what?

We are not living in normal times. If the majority of other Democratic voters want Bloomberg, so be it - he'll be the nominee. Deal with it, and don't dare stay home and not vote or vote third-party out of pique - that is a luxury that we CANNOT afford.

We have to kick Trump's ass out of office by any and all means necessary - and the same goes for the GOP. At EVERY level of government.

However I can't support Bloomberg in the primaries, he would be my last choice (tied with Tulsi Gabbard for that distinction).

Talk about keeping it real? Trying to defend even the most well intentioned and competent Multi-billionaire in the world who also pushed "Stop and Frisk" and literally endorsed George W. Bush for president at the Republican National Convention will be a losing proposition with millions of voters who will either stay home or vote third party instead of voting for Michael Bloomberg. And in many cases those are voters who would work their asses off to get a Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Warren or even a Pete Buttigieg elected.

Bloomberg is the one nominee most likely to fracture the Democratic leaning electorate. More so than Biden or Bernie or Amy or Liz or anyone else. I'll work hard for Bloomberg if he gets the nomination, but I dread the potential consequences of him buying our nod.

My heart belongs to Joe Biden.

But when I VOTE, I vote with my head.

I’ve found that’s been a good “personal Golden Rule.” When it comes to the big decisions, FOR ME, it’s head over heart. Every time. And so far, in my mid-60s, it’s never failed.

Tue Feb 11, 2020, 02:58 PM

Literally the last person. He's a real billionaire... that alone would make Trump look small by comparison on a debate stage. Trump's schtick has always been that he's oh so successful blah blah blah... Bloomberg would deflate that right quick, in words and by his mere presence.

I think Bloomberg is the one candidate who can truly, madly, deeply scare Trump, personally as well as politically. And there is nothing as pathetic and loser-y as a bully that everyone can see is scared.

definition of what tRump wants and prefers. We can only guess. I would think you are right on the one hand, but also know Bloomberg will struggle with millennials and perhaps POC ... which weighs toward tRump.

Tue Feb 11, 2020, 01:36 PM
Feb 2020

There was a post this morning with a link to Wikipedia on one of the candidates, to get us to "warm" to a candidate that might not be our preference.

No warming is necessary. Whoever is the candidate gets my vote. It's very simple.

Remember, every candidate has baggage of one sort or another, because of who they are or what they said or did last year or in 1978 (well, maybe a bit later than that for Pete, but the idea still holds). If someone other than your preference gets the nomination, you vote for that person. If you have to hold your nose while doing so, then hold your nose. If you can do it with confidence, be confident. If you can do it with jubilation, be jubilatious. But vote for the candidate with the D after his/her name. It's not that difficult a concept.

My fear, I guess, is that there will be too many (or just enough) people who can't stomach anyone other than their candidate and will either sit it out or muddy the waters in some way. My message to these people? Get over yourselves. Life's tough. You don't always get what you want (sounds familiar - anyone?). But this is not the time to get all snippy and whingey and self-righteous. There's simply too much at stake. And I hope that every candidate who didn't get the nomination makes their support for the nominee loud and clear and that they do what they must to ensure that their supporters vote for the nominee.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

It's the media thats pushing this not the candidates. they don't realize when the media tells them something, they want you to believe ALL democrats want it, which is a lie. the media doesn't know what we want. They just want the candidates fighting because fighting is news. Their editors want them to keep the candidates away from trump, because they want to promote trump. Yes, it's not the russians interfering in our elections, its the media. It's been the media the whole time. And it's all of them foxnews, msnbc, cnn, cbs, abc, nbc, etc, etc. all of them, washington post, ny times, usa today, wall street journal, etc. etc., all of them. They are all owned by billionaires who want trump to continue in office. Look at where biden is now, he's a mess. Now bernie is on top, watch how long it takes for them to bring him down. This is why trump is trying harder to get the black vote now, he knows biden is weak thanks to his ukraine crap and help from the media. THE REPUBLICAN CHEATING MACHINE IS ALREADY IN MOTION. I've seen way too many circular firing squads in my progressive life.

And you KNOW the Republicans and their allies are going to try to inflame that at EVERY opportunity.

But guess what : this time, they won't get that opportunity. At least not from me.

There is ZERO chance of me sitting out this election, and ZERO chance of voting any way except to get Trump and his team of traitors OUT of office.

So check the infighting at the door, whoever wins will get my support. 100%.

And I despise Ted Cruz (obviously)

But, at least Cruz wouldn't accidentally sit on a nuclear launch button.

Trump being in office is a constant danger to our country. If Bloomberg is the nominee, I'm voting for him. If a sandwich is the nominee, I will have a sandwich lawn sign. There is nobody running in the democratic primaries I wouldn't vote for over Trump. There is no major politician I can think of who I wouldn't vote for over Trump.

Trump is destroying our country in ways none of us could have even imagined. He is one of the greatest dangers America has ever faced, and there is a real chance our democracy won't survive a second term.

1. Get Trump OUT
2. THEN work for more progressive policies

Those two steps don't have to be done at once. We can do #1 in November, then work on #2. Before we can do #2, we HAVE TO GET #1 DONE.

Most likely, we will not be able to do both at once in November. So don't bother expecting that. It would be nice but it should not be a requirement or an expectation.

Priorities.
FOCUS.
