They talked about her the same way they talk about AOC. Dismissive, unimpressed, etc. I think Warren and HRC are closer than most seem to think (both former Republicans with more ambition than principles, if you ask me), but like I said, people I know who are strong HRC supporters didn’t see it.

That said, her backpedaling on M4A did seem to send people to Bernie.

I was kind of unconvinced by Bernie last time around, but he’s come a long way as a candidate since 2016, and built a better organization. Trump’s soft support gives us a chance to put a progressive in the White House, and Bernie’s the guy a billionaire will struggle with the most, because he can’t be painted as a phony, unlike more corporate-friendly Dems looking to do the post-convention pivot.

66. What happens in a "first past the post" electoral system.
Wed Feb 12, 2020, 12:54 AM
Feb 2020

The winner has the "most votes" yes but not an absolute majority. The way to overcome this would be with some sort of single transferable vote system, where candidates are ranked by voter in terms of choice 1,2,3 etc.

First Past The Post works in the USA because there's typically only two viable candidates. If the USA ended up having multiple parties you would end up with a particular candidate winning but never with more than 50% of the vote.

What the Democratic Party has done with the primary elections has sort of given a form of proportional representation to the process - candidates win "delegates", and if all candidates ran all primary elections and caucuses they could request their delegates vote for another candidate instead... i.e. the "brokered convention".

We could reform the whole process... Have a single "super Tuesday" primary election, use the single transferable vote system, pick a candidate to represent the party in the general election in one fell swoop. No dragging it out.

Is warrented. Were Sanders up by the tenth of a percent I would still call it a dead heat. The sanders campaign has requested a recanvass of 20 to 30 precints where they believe errors in the tally occurred. https://apnews.com/58397815e08080c41ef1d04579c1707a

Frankly I think if they recanvassed all the results it would not match the same results. Its a mess. The outcome could go either way but the Sanders campaign has a list of discrepancies with supporting figures where they belive mistakes were made.

There is a three tiered conting process and even on the first try they found delegates that should have gone to Warren and Sanders that were given to candidates like Deval Patrick.

As I said. I doubt that the Iowa election officials can reproduce the result of that first count. The NYT had an article the other day that said they wont do it (do a full recount). I dont know if that is factual or not. I also trust that Pete Buttigieg did quite well. However Both campaigns were offered the option of a recount and the Sanders camp has asked for a targetted one.

Also if I cared to violate the tos and rehash the last primary like you seem to want to do I could certainly do it.

It's like he drops a tenth of a point every time 1 or 2% of the precincts report.

If this keeps up, Mayor Pete will win with about 1.5%.

Right now Sanders only leads by 1.8% of the vote with only 64% reporting.

question: the info I found says delegates are divided according to percent. under 15 doesn't count. So do the remaining valid percents get adjusted to a base of 100? Right now, say it is 26, 24, 2o = 70 If it gets adjusted it would be 37 34 29. Is that right?

Delegates would be 8 7 6 with one left over (no number rounds up) so does the popular vote winner get it?
