Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumVoter turnout in these primaries
Talking heads on tv want to know why aren't the Democrats coming out in droves?
A few thoughts: The Democrats consider the top 5 all worthwhile and will vote in general whoever the candidate is.
Voter suppression is having an effect on the numbers.
What do you think?

(3,649 posts)I wonder if it might just be political fatigue. The last four years have been exhausting with the 2016 election and dealing with Trump.

(4,608 posts)Trump has successfully made this whole election season toxic. I think a lot Democrats are uninterested in fighting an epic primary. They just want to skip the whole thing and get to the part where they vote for something -- anything -- that isn't Trump.

(8,090 posts)This process has dragged on entirely too long and a lot of people have tuned out. I hate to say this but I'm sort of to the point that I just don't give a shit anymore and just want one candidate to rally behind to beat Fat Nixon. DNC, don't ever do this again.

I am a political junkie but i tend to agree with you. Too bad we don't have some law the restricts political campaigns to a given length like they do in Canada.
Laws may keep some countries' elections short, but other factors allow America's to go long large amounts of money being chief among them

(711 posts)It's about beating up on each other. (That's why Bloomberg is gaining traction. He's staying focused on the objective.) After participating in the Doug Jones vs Roy Moore election, I'm not too worried about overall turnout in November. Democrats hate Trump like no other candidate in my life time. Putin is going to have to work overtime.

These candidates are 100% milquetoast. Notwithstanding Sanders and Bloomberg, I dont see any of these folks exciting enough to blow the roof off of general election turnout.
