I actually remember reading his essay about Bernie 20 years ago, when I was entering the contest a few years after he did and read his essay as one of the examples they put on the website. It's actually part of what made me decide to support Bernie in 2016. I had no idea until Sunday that it was written by Pete Buttigieg, whom nobody had heard of at that point (he was a couple years out of high school at that point).
My only big concern about him is his history of race relations. He needs to do a better job answering questions about what happened with the police chief, and it would be great if he picked a person of color as his running mate.
