The significance of Bernie's wins is proportional to how much people try to downplay them.

Exhibit A was Bernie's Iowa win. When IA polls started looking good for Bernie, the usual centrist pundits started saying the IA didn't matter. After he won, they tried to say that popular vote didn't matter. And made absurd arguments like comparing the 2-person results from 2016 to the 5/6-person race this year (hilariously, MSNBC interviewed a woman that was so put off by MSNBC pundits making this argument that she switched to Bernie).

And what happened? After Bernie won Iowa, he took the lead in national polls, is now the favorite according to 538 projections, and betting markets have him with the best odds. Chris Matthews freaked out so much he had some kind of live TV acid trip where he thought he was being executed in Central Park.

After the NH win, the race is quickly coming down to Bloomberg vs Bernie. And that's going to be a tough contest. Part of the outcome will depend on how quickly the other centrist candidates decide to drop out to make room for Bloomberg. The sooner they do, the more favorable to Bloomberg. I can imagine him offering VP to Pete or Amy to get them to drop out and endorse him.

But as of right now, Bernie is the favorite to be the nominee.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:

Everyone knows this, especially Biden (and his donors). The delegate battle starts on Super Tuesday. Thanks to his wins in Iowa and NH, Bernie's poll numbers have gone up all over the country. And Biden's numbers have dropped all over the country. Pete and Amy have gotten some momentum, but they can't compete in large and diverse states.

Please flesh out the parameters of this phenomenon for the curious, if you could.

Does it applies to anyone beyond this one individual who seems to be your primary concern, is it just confined to politicians, or does it also apply to sports teams, chess masters, golfers, car racers, competitive eaters, hedge-fund managers, or others?

This is a very interesting take on the state of the world. Please explain the extent and limits of this phenomenon for the curious.

"live TV acid trip where he thought he was being executed in Central Park" - by Fidel Castro FFS... The rich Democratic centrist elites want someone elected that will be the "pawl" in the ratchet. Someone who will maintain the status quo in it's current rightward position so the fascists can catch their breath, regroup, and come at us with renewed zeal. They're millionaires and got used to having "nice things" and LOVE their tax breaks. I agree, more or less, with everything you wrote.
