Two very white states voted.

Some here are saying that BS has won the election. Fact is he lost in Iowa and barely squeaked a win in NH.

Fact. No black voice has had a chance to speak/vote yet. No diverse state has even voted. Not one. Black voices matter.

https://t.co/WIK4SCpvPG">https://t.co/WIK4SCpvPG
— Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta 🥁 (@malcolmkenyatta) <a href="

Black folks and in particular black women are the base of the Democratic Party. Biden is polling 50% plus with our community.

This race will not be settles until we get a chance to weigh in. Period.
If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

Iowa and New Hampshire are not representative of the entire country. And I say that as a resident of New Hampshire. Maybe Joe won't win the nomination, but he has the most impressive and diverse list of endorsements of any candidate, so it certainly isn't over. Of course, the media has already read his eulogy and unfortunately that can affect some voters decision.

Sanders - 21
Warren - 8
Klobuchar - 7
Biden - 6

Wed Feb 12, 2020, 02:22 AM

maybe you ought to choose the nominee based upon the input of the entire Democratic coalition -- instead of cherry-picking a non-representative subset of Democratic voters to be gate-keepers for the rest of us (never mind the US as a whole).

What wins in POTUS general elections is turnout, not changing people's minds. If you want good turnout, you should not crown a candidate based on a non-representative sample of Dems in 2 states.

Let's dispense with a massive lie about IA and NH and their usefulness in choosing candidates which can win an electoral college in fall 2020: their caucus and primary do NOT represent middle America or swing voters or any of those centrist-sounding things. Y'all realize that those outcomes just represent the DEMOCRATIC voters in those states, right? By themselves they tell you nothing about a *general* election in PA or FL or MI or OH or WI or NV or AZ or VA or NC, never mind even in their own goddamned states.

Wed Feb 12, 2020, 05:34 AM
Feb 2020

538 has Sanders at 38%, a brokered convention at 33% and Biden way down at 18%. Enten has Sanders at 5.5 out of 10 (no other candidate comes close).

And as bad as the outlook is for Biden, you'd rather be him than Warren at this point. Biden still has South Carolina ahead of him, whereas New Hampshire was Warren's South Carolina (and she finished a distant 4th in single digits).

Looking ahead, it's a lot easier to see Sanders racking up wins (in which case the odds of a brokered convention will plummet) than it is to see Buttigieg or Klobuchar racking up wins. That's why Biden can cling to a glimmer of hope. But this Bloomberg madness doesn't do Biden any favors. And the Bloomberg madness is a testament to the lack of confidence in Buttigieg's and Klobuchar's ability to rack up wins while having virtually zero support among persons of color.

Feb 2020

It's one thing to not like caucuses (I don't). It's one thing to not like that we start with 2 states that don't reflect the electorate demographically-speaking (I don't).

It's another thing to deny reality, which is that IA and NH always have an outsized influence. Inside the DU bubble, denying reality is par for the course. I laugh every time someone points to Bill Clinton and 1992 as though that somehow disproves reality--when it actually reinforces it.

That outsized influence is why underdogs (like Buttigieg and Klobuchar) pour almost all their resources into those early states--they hope to gain enough momentum/money to be able to build infrastructure in the following states. The problem for each of them is the near-zero support among persons of color, which provides Biden a glimmer of hope.

Again, outside DU, most people recognize that Biden is on the ropes, that both NV and SC are increasingly in doubt for him. Warren is even worse off, as her version of a must-win state has already voted--and she finished a distant 4th in single digits. This is all well-understood outside this forum.

I am beyond ticked off at what happened in Iowa. But aside from the fact they were ratfcked, it is past time for the DNC to take better control of who goes first. Cory Booker should not be out of this race now. The early "debates" are beyond useless -- the CNN "town halls" and MSNBC hour long interviews are infinitely better for getting to know the candidates.

Count me as another female vote -- and an old white lady vote. California, heavily Latino, needs to have a chance to weigh in too.
