Elena Schneider, Myah Ward, and Holly Otterbein contributed to this report.

Bernie Sanders held off Pete Buttigieg in New Hampshire on Tuesday, slowing the former mayor’s charge and asserting himself as the tentative frontrunner in a still-muddled Democratic primary field.

Amy Klobuchar sparked to life with a third-place finish, while two one-time favorites — Elizabeth Warren and Joe Biden — lagged far behind. The returns reflected a surprising degree of momentum for Klobuchar, who is presenting herself as a moderate alternative to Buttigieg and Biden — but who before New Hampshire plodded forward largely as an afterthought.

Still, the night belonged to Sanders.

3. Didn't they tie on delegates which leaves Buttigieg two delegates ahead?

9. yeah it's weird

In Iowa, Bernie and Buttigieg tie (in delegate equivalents) and so Buttigieg gets two extra delegates

In New Hampshire, Bernie beats Buttigieg by 2 points.... so they each get the same number of delegates.

6. Holy shit did Amy win?

The OP said Sanders won the NH primary, not who the "night belonged to", did I miss something? So I will ask again, did Amy win?

10. It's a strong third!

Apparently doesn’t have a lot of money or staff to move on strong. So there’s that.

11. Bernie only got 25.7% of the vote. In 2016 he got 60% of the vote.

That's quite a drop.

19. There were 28 on the NH primary ballot in 2016. Why couldn't Bernie keep his 60%?

It seems name recognition alone should have helped him, but it didn't. The voters flocked to newcomers Buttigieg and Klobuchar, who together took almost twice what Bernie got.

14. Sigh. Part of me wishes Bernie HAD won the NH primary.

Honestly! But the truth is that Bernie tied with Mayor Pete in a state that Bernie should have won. Bernie and Mayor Pete will both come out of NH with 9 delegates a piece (or, so it appears at the moment). Bernie should have done better. This can not be considered a "win" by team BERN.
