Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumWould you vote for Bloomberg if he won the nomination? (With poll)
Around the progressive interwebs I am hearing the theme of no matter who vote blue changing to no matter who vote blue, unless of course it is Bloomberg, that would be a step to far
A STEP TOO FAR??? Are you kidding me? Now dont get me wrong, people with a shaky history on a multitude of issues, including voting patterns and civil rights is certainly far from ideal. As an outside observer, it is more than a tad disturbing that the chap with the biggest bank account could potentially win because of the power of the $$$, when we see other candidates who have worked for decades to get to this point and have (whether you agree with them or not) solid policy positions. But this is what the American election system looks like for fair or foul.
Looking left and look right I cannot objectively see how anyone would choose to sit November 2020 out cause Bloomberg when it could potentially give Trump another term. I do not think it hyperbole to state that if Trump gets another 4 years in power it is rather unlikely that any of you will get to go to the polls again in 2024.
Original cartoon which I shamelessly adapted and also has a very good point (just not about this)
Now, I really hope that Bloomberg does not get to purchase this nomination. However, if he pulls it off
Would you vote for him if he won the nomination? Why or why not?

(31,185 posts)that seem to be required on DU. Of course I will vote for the nominee. Bloomberg may be the only one who can stand up to trump. Bloomberg is tough.
We have a billionaire governor in Illinois. His campaign was self-funded. He is one of the most progressive governors in the country, and he is getting things done. We had a disastrous trump like governor just before him. There is a lot to set to rights. JB is doing just that. I was not happy that it took a billionaire to do it, but not all billionaires are bad.
Bloomberg may be just what we need.

I am no fan of Sanders, but if he is the Democratic nominee, with no hesitation he will get my vote and support
As I also said, if there are those who wont vote for the Democratic nominee in 2020, then they dont care about the SC or judicial appointments

(1,782 posts)defeat Dotard for someone who presided over and vehemently defended (at the time) NYC's Stop-And-Frisk program during his 12 years as mayor there? Even with his billions and a media empire at his disposal, the thousands upon thousands of gross civil rights violations (as per a federal judge) committed against African-Americans and POC under that program will be a difficult thing for Mr. Bloomberg and his supporters to casually sweep under the rug, or summarily dismiss as so much partisan hokum come Election Day.

(10,207 posts)... we've had Presidents who are wealthy... and some were poor. None have been perfect. Also, I think they expectation that "he can't win" is gone, so we're not going to get as many thinking they don't have to vote.
