Congratulations to our presumptive Democratic nominee, Joe Biden!
Why I still don't 'feel the Bern.' And I'm not alone in purple Florida
...The Independent senator from Vermont launched his 2016 presidential bid with talk of political revolution, and after the R word, all people heard about the promises of free higher education and Medicare for All pointed south to Cubas failed experiment.
Education that comes with indoctrination, forced labor in the fields, and mandated employment as payment. It aint free at all. Free medical care that comes with substandard conditions and practices, and the same level of corruption as capitalism when it comes to access. No, thanks.
And the ultimate test: If all the free stuff were good stuff, they wouldnt be fleeing in anything that floats or trekking through dangerous countries to get to the U.S. border....
The populists big promises of leveling the playing field with still no concrete plans on how to achieve or pay for the education and healthcare hes offering only sounds like hes the ideological flip side of Trump....

(2,297 posts)3. This whining about "free education" is really dumb
We already have free (and compulsory!!!) education in this country, the K-12 system. Does that mean we are all fleeing in boats to Canada (where I imagine they also have said education policy?).
I guess some people can't help thinking of Cuba, but seriously Cuba is not the only country that does free education or healthcare.

Warren explains the fiscal changes necessary to enact her plans.
