(115,609 posts)Bernie is going to need the Democratic establishment if he wants the nomination, the presidency, and the ability to govern if he wins, so maybe he should stop kicking the real Democrats in the nuts.

The Velveteen Ocelot
(115,609 posts)if he's the nominee and Bloomberg offers to help like he promised? He certainly will need the support of all those "establishment" Democrats he keeps insulting.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
Stellar
(5,644 posts)If Bloomberg thinks he can buy Bernie the way he's trying to buy this election, that would discourage Bernies supporters that are giving him hard-earned money to help him and then Bernie turns around and sucks up to
Bloomberg? I don't think so.
Bloomberg got enough money that Bernie could probably get it from him the same way he plans to take it from other Billionaire.
We bailed out wall street and now it's wall streets turn to bail out main street.

(11,330 posts)you need the democratic establishment to accomplish every thing on your goals.
So I guess your goals are merely gift wrap since you have no intention of accomplishing them, the present inside the gift box, is just hot air.

(4,265 posts)if he truly ran as the independent he loves to brag about and not switch back over to run under "the establishment" when it's convenient for him.
You guys love to have it both ways. You love to demonize the Democrats. When it's not "the establishment" it's the centrist/moderate Dems but then have no problem running to the Dem party to make a run for president. I find that pretty pathetic and I wish he wasn't running at all. But that's just my opinion.

(6,537 posts)The Democratic party should only allow candidates who have been members of the party for some length of time, let's a two years (one congressional term) before running for major national office as a party member. The primary is for us to choose who we, as party members, want as President, not an open election for anyone - that's called a General Election. I also oppose the insanity of open primaries. I've felt that way for the entire time I've been involved, since Jimmy's first run.

(21,104 posts)Dean was the best we had had in a long time. In 2018 he proclaimed there was no blue wave. Honestly, his latest consternation is just a continuation of that bullshit.
I am undecided. Sanders is not my first choice. But considering what James Carville was and what James Carville has become, I'd say Sanders is closer to right than wrong on this topic, at least at this point in time.

(21,104 posts)I believe a bulk of his beliefs are fundamentally true. Sometimes he is dead-on-target. It seems though, his analysis is often clouded with how he'd like things to be more than how they are. I will always respect his opinion, but it is often no loner my own.

(25,428 posts)He's always had a reputation for activism and aggressiveness, which was probably better served when the target was the Bush administration and Lou Dobbs (a frequent target) and not fellow Democrats, the DNC, and the party in general.
Nate Silver wrote this about him in 2009:
"But if someone wants to marshal an army to fight a battle of wills while playing fast and loose with the truth and using some of the same demagogic precepts that the right wing does, I am not particularly interested in that. In fact, I think it is acutely dangerous."*
Seems not much has changed.
