here's the thing about bloomie that may just win me over.

imho, he is likely the first person in american history to run for the presidency who really didnt give a shit whether he got the job or not.
think on that.

he's got one mission, and it is the one mission that all want our candidate to take on- trash donald trump, and roast his carcass on a billion dollar fire.

and now we have meme2020.

this is all over but the cryin.
go mike.

Thu Feb 13, 2020, 11:59 AM
Feb 2020

He may be running out of a sense of duty to save the country. Looked at the field of Dem candidates, didn't, in his estimation, see anyone who had what it takes to defeat trump. Whether or not that's true is beside the point, it's what he himself saw. He figures he is one of the few with the resources to take trump head on. If he really wanted to be president he would have gotten in much sooner.
If he wins I wouldn't be surprised to see him serve one honorable term to heal and repair some if trump's damage, then get out and let the system tight itself without trump around. Trump might actually end up in prison if a Pres Bloomberg decided to go after his criminal ass.

You don't amass the wealth and power Bloomberg has without being a vision driven person. He doesn't just want to remove Trump - he has a plan for what he wants to change.

As much as I dislike some things about Bloomberg, I don't see anything that rises to the level of existential crisis that we have with Trump.

I will disagree with Bloomberg on policy. But Trump is a professional troll and conman, who happens to be very talented at these roles. (people didn't believe me in 2016, grrr. I so hoped I was wrong.)

But it occurred to me yesterday that he is running the un-campaign campaign. He’s holding events across the country and his media outreach is beyond compare. Instead of worrying about a few inconsequential early primaries, he’s building a nation profile and outperforming at least half the democratic field in the process. He’s also disrupting Trump and boy do I like that.

Now he needs delegates, so it’s time for a ground game which he has been quietly setting up - everywhere. It takes a ton of cash - to pull this off, but we may be seeing the first real 21st century presidential campaign. Time will tell...

The reason some are taught to make believe Teddy Roosevelt was a liberal, is because of some of the progressive reforms he was in favor of. They have correspondence between him and a couple big shots telling them it's in the interest of saving capitalism from the socialist movements. He was afraid the torches and pitchforks might come out and take them down if they didn't give in a little.

I suppose if the best we get is a few bones tossed our way to make it look good, as has always been the case, it will at least stop Trumps rampage.

He doesn't need the publicity; that's not why he's running. I think he's terrified to see the ruination of the Republic. He knows what happened when Putin took control of Russia and he has said Trump is Putin's puppet. He also knows all too well what happened when Hitler became German Chancellor, and he knows Trump is following Hitler's path to ultimate power.

If Bloomberg manages to corner the black and Jewish democratic votes, and if he manages (and I think he will) to convince his fellow 1 percenters that their wealth and their future look very bleak if Trump is re-elected, then he will win.

Rich people don't get (or stay) rich by making careless decisions with their money. Bloomie's people have brought him hard data that Joe Biden could collapse, and lo and behold, they clearly did their homework. Bloomie's not going to spend a buttload of money on this just to walk away from it (and keep the spigot on) if he doesn't get all the marbles.

Minimal amounts? He gives millions to these terrible people. Millions of dollars. And I think you are absolutely wrong that he doesn't care if he wins. He wouldn't be spending the huge amounts of money he's spending if he didn't care. He is using our desperation to get rid of Trump against us. He wants to be President. It's the ultimate goal for him. He's already gotten pretty much everything else he can possibly attain in life. He's extremely powerful and influential. Now he wants the ultimate prize in prestige and power and will do anything to get it the same way he always has.
