It was the first time in years that Mr. Bloomberg has sued the citys legislative branch, and the suit underscored the occasional tensions between him and the Council speaker, Christine C. Quinn, who is a close ally, as well as a likely, and leading, candidate in the 2013 race to succeed him.
The lawsuit seeks to overturn two recently passed measures known as the living wage and prevailing wage laws that would increase pay for janitors, security guards and other service workers at some companies that receive government subsidies or lease space to a city agency.
Mr. Bloomberg vetoed the bills; the Council overrode his vetoes. The bills were supported by unions and pro-labor groups, but the mayor argued that higher wage requirements would discourage companies from moving to New York or entering into contracts with the municipal government.

(2,565 posts)but I did some dumb things in 2012, too.
I'll give him two things--he is not afraid to admit it when he's wrong, and he's going to help down-ticket people.
I think he's a nice addition to the cast.

(8,361 posts)As mayor from 2002 through 2013, Bloombergs pro-development policies were credited by business interests for powering New York Citys comeback and denounced by critics for increasing homelessness and inequality. Even decisions that seemed moderate or progressive at the time no longer do in the context of todays politics.

None of our other candidates will govern like him.

(13,058 posts)is coming from. I know that early polls can be misleading sometimes, but most swing state polls that I have seen have most of our candidates beating Trump.

(7,490 posts)The latest Emerson poll had all of the leaders beating dump, and Warren and Pete were within the MOE of Bloomberg. Are people just making this stuff up out of whole cloth?

(7,490 posts)Margin of error means he could be behind those others. And they ALL beat drumpf so this ridiculous argument some are making that he is the ONLY one who can is shown to be just plain stupid.

I do, however, still think that he is trying to buy the election and I object to that.

(5,303 posts)He can however, buy attention. He can and has bought himself attention. When he gets in the debates and starts campaigning in public, he'll have to earn it. No one's vote is for sale.

(2,701 posts)should go away, that the field was big enough already.
Now, look at how things have changed. His master strategy worked. The slick ads worked - just as he had planned - he got us (well, not me) right where he wants us.
