Bernie said.."The goal isn't to win elections"

the rest of the quote explains Sanders thought which is worthy and should not be dismissed...
"The goal isn’t to win elections, the goal is to transform America"

The problem is today it is imperative to win the election.

But Bernie is still playing the 'transform' america game while the enemy has america in a deathgrip.

America as an ideal will die, if we don't wrest control from the GOP immediately.

I wrote in January 2017 and several time after, we have to crash the system in order to get Trump and the GOP out of power. I can see over the last few days that there have been articles the our time is running out to stop this train wreck...and I believe it.

I don't think its time for niceties.

That is the appeal of Mike, he is all in on the enemy.

He's still not my choice...but I fully understand why people are backing him.
I guess those people are seeing things similar to the way I am...but they are even more desperate or pessimistic.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

One quick example is PA senator Pat Toomey who narrowly won re-election in 2016 thanks in part to more than $11M from Bloomberg. He voted to acquit drumpf, helping to transform America.

8. the newsweek article I linked to in the other post is good
Thu Feb 13, 2020, 08:24 PM
Feb 2020

there were also some other good articles on why his economic ideas are stuck in a time warp as well.

the bad behavior of his supporters is a direct outcome of his strategy and why the Maga'ts are also terrible

couple of articles
https://www.forbes.com/sites/iese/2017/01/24/why-populism-is-rising-and-how-to-combat-it#42cdb30b1d44
https://www.theatlantic.com/international/archive/2017/04/trump-populism-le-pen/523491/

• Intellectuals and experts are viewed with suspicion because of their ties with the elite. Their words are perceived as skewed and biased.

• Anyone who disagrees with the body politic should be spurned and, if necessary, intimidated. Those who try to stabilize political institutions will hinder the advancement of populism.

In populist movement... it is important to accentuate every conflict and wrap it up tightly in an emotionally charged bundle.

The disdain populists feel for experts is nothing compared to the distaste they have for journalists. In some countries, this leads to incarcerations, beatings, and even assassinations. Journalists, like scientists, obtain information that can clash with the narrative the populist finds most convenient.

6. Sorry, but ALL of the candidates are all in on drumpf
Thu Feb 13, 2020, 08:17 PM
Feb 2020

They have been trying to differentiate themselves, which is what people do in a primary. If they only ran ads about drumpf, it would be a disservice. They will do that once the process is ending or over. Bloomberg can do it because he hasn't been challenged and because he has lots of money to run ads which will appeal to every Democrat out there. Doesn't make him the best candidate by a long shot. It does, however, make some feel he doesn't need to be vetted.

this could be a discussion about what actions they will take in office against the crimes of the current administration...but I think Liz is the only one who actually has that as a material goal. Amy has related goals...but Liz is the only one out for blood.

11. We need a leader with vision
Thu Feb 13, 2020, 08:35 PM
Feb 2020

I'm trying to think of any past elections has a major candidate ever won by just being against someone and not having a platform and support for that.

How are you expecting a canidate to win if all the focus is just on being Anti-Trump. What is your vision and besides just trying to get him out of office what is your plan. You can sure bet the Rs have a plan. Besides the Trump shit show they have been ruthlessly effective in their goals and agenda. How are you going to stop that without vision and goals of your own.

We need someone who can inspire and lead not just try to go back to the same old same old that was broken and gave us Trump in the first place.

Thu Feb 13, 2020, 09:50 PM
Feb 2020

I think some don't really have a vision but several appear just content on status-quo or what donors might want instead of helping the people. Some deliver, Like Liz and the CFPB was a great example, but there are several candidates whose history shows the deliver more for the donors than the citizens.

You of course can disagree

Bernie was the among the least effective legislators.

And you can't tell me his constituent services for the state of Vermont was more taxing then for example Liz's constituent services in a state 10 times as large.
