Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumFor those of us who were around DU back in 2003 / 2004, who was your favored candidate then and
who are you for or leaning towards today? Thought it would be fun to see how many people used to be behind the same candidate then but are fighting like cats and dogs today. LOL Because at one point or another, most of us have probably liked the same candidate even if we disagree now. So we are a lot more alike than different.
Me Wesley Clark then and today Warren, Sanders about even.
For that matter here is the entire gamut: Clark 2004, Obama 2008, Sanders 20016, Warren / Sanders 2020.

(22,912 posts)Hi Jim!
And for those following in at home, yep, I was for Wes Clark back then also, (and would have been in 2008 also had he run - though I did grow rather fond of Dean also).

(47,141 posts)All in all, I think he made the right decision not to run in '08, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't have been there backing him up if he did run. Its pretty tough for a top military general to win the Dem primary, but he gave it a very good run.
One of my favorite memories of '03-'04 was that the Deanies and Clarkies had some mutual respect for each other, for the most part, after the battles were over.

(22,912 posts)Most of us all strongly supported Dean as DNC Chair. I wish Obama had made better use of what Clark had to offer, but I'm not here to knock him either. Obama ran a great campaign and it was such a relief to have him as our President.

(130,865 posts)JUST saw this, from an old friend, in an FB 4Clark page:
'TO ALL: Gen. Clark will be interviewed on CNN by Wolf Blitzer in about 1 minute from right now! UPDATE: Gen. Clark is on right now and Wolf Blitzer announced that he will be a regular CNN commentator going forward (I am thrilled about that)!'

(4,297 posts)I will never forget his leadership during the Vietnam War protests. He was impressive even back then. He has always provided a voice of reason and integrity. I wish he had asked Wesley Clark to be his VP. I think they would have won and saved our country.

(11,605 posts)I supported Obama in 2008 and Bernie in 2016 in the primaries.
This time I'm still undecided, except that I feel strongly it shouldn't be Bloomberg.
I've been on this site since at least 2003, maybe even 2002, but for some reason my profile says I joined in 2008. Anyone know why that is?

But Im always blue no matter who without much bitterness. I still think Kerry should have taken Wes for his VP and run a Stars and Stripes campaign.
Oh well.
