People need to know that it wasn't just banks discriminating with mortgages, it was the systemic racist policy of the Federal Government.
I am so proud of Elizabeth Warren for fighting to correct the aftermath of that injustice.

(50,935 posts)had nothing whatsoever to do with redlining, and if you read the whole of the article that brought up the issue, you will see that its headline misrepresented what Bloomberg said.
Bloomberg's statement in the article was denouncing the predatory lending practices of banks that financially ruined people in previously redlined districts.
But I guess the agenda of the person who wrote the headline and the people who spread the misinformation have won the day, and now everyone is going to say that Bloomberg invented redlining or supported it or whatever.
That's very sad.

(92,116 posts)differences on various issues is one thing, but intentional lying and distortions about a persons record is unacceptable.
That was recently done against Biden in regard to Social Security, and that came from the Sanders campaign, and is another of many reasons why I will not vote for him in the primaries.
Of course I will vote for whoever the Democratic nominee is because the stakes are too high, unlike one campaign who hired people who voted for Jill Stein, and still have no regrets doing so.
I will be voting in Super Tuesday, and based on what happens in Nevada and South Carolina, I will use what happens as part of the criteria of who I will vote for Super Tuesday between the following candidates:
Joe, Amy, Pete, Liz, and Mike.
Yes, I realize Bloomberg is not in the Nevada or SC primaries, however, those primaries will be an indicator to me about the viability of the other candidates for Super Tuesday in addition to the upcoming debates
Appreciate setting the record straight on the Bloomberg's record. I will check it out for accuracy
Thanks

(1,584 posts)Because she studies and understands the issues. She isnt left. She evaluates the problem and addresses it systematically.
She gets painted as left because she has studied and knows that single payer is the best overall goal to permanently fix healthcare. Its not left vs. right. Its correct vs. continuing to try to fix an irreparably broken system.
Student loan forgiveness is another issue where she has taken a left position. I agree she needs to rework that and push for going back to what we had during the Clinton administration.
